Info on 46' 3" HS Shot Put By Karen Nitsch from 1981?

I know that Mike Kennedy is the resident expert on HS girls track and may be the only one that can answer this obscure performance that I'm researching, but his contact info at the T&FN website here (mkentrk@aol.com) is not current and doesn't work.

A mark of 46' 03 for Karen Nitsch of Perry Meridian HS in Indiana appeared in the November 1981 issue of TF&N, but I have no clue where that 46' 3 mark was made. I suspect it was made late in the high school season because the mark did not appear in any other T&FN issues that year. I'm interested in getting more information on this performance because I compile a list of All-Time Top 25 Indiana HS Performances here and the above mark exceeds the one I currently have for Nitsch on that list.

Thanks, Garry, but I tried to contact him at that address three times last week (via both my Gmail and work accounts) and once just now based on your post and all four times I have immediately received a message that the e-mail was "Undeliverable".

So, unfortunately his e-mail address is not currently working, but perhaps he'll visit this forum sometime.

The mark was made in a dual meet (location unknown) on 17 April.

Thanks, tc! Although April 17 was a Friday in 1981 and it's not typical in Indiana to have dual meets on Friday, I'll go with it and also assume that the dual meet was in Indiana (Perry Meridian is located near Indianapolis so it would be unusual for them to have a dual meet out of state)!

As a a side note, as indicated in another thread in this forum, a publication called Indiana's Best shows an even longer high school mark for Nitsch:

46' 06.50 - Karen Nitsch - 12 - Perry Meridian - US-DDR; Lubech, Germany - 1981

However, it was established in that other thread that the US-DDR dual meets didn't begin until 1982, so I discount that mark. In short, the new entry on my All-Time Indiana HS Top 25 lists will be:

46' 03.00 - Karen Nitsch - 12 Perry Meridian - Dual Meet, IN - 1981
