rankings trivia

Postby Guest » Fri Oct 24, 2003 7:14 am

As this year's world rankings approach, here are some trivia questions that might not be easy to find answers to via the internet. T&FN staffers should sit on their hands (but I will gladly accept any corrections).

Who is the all-time career points leader?

Who ranked in the most different events?

What events which have never appeared in the Olympics (in one incarnation or another) have had world rankings compiled anyway?

Heike Drechsler, JJK, and Irena Szewinska are bound to feature in the first two of your questions... I think....

Irena Szewinska has 342 points (10 ahead of Carl Lewis) and appeared in the rankings in 6 events. That makes her the best on both counts, I believe.
As to the third question, the only one I can think of is women's SC (but it will become an Olympic event eventually).
