Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Just curious to know if this slim 200m specialist
(19"87 PB)through the nineties shares his long experience of T&F today... Is he coaching? Last edited by 79. on Tue Jun 21, 2005 12:18 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Probably retired....got old like the rest of us.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Got old? he WAS old when he was competing. He ran his PR at......36 I believe.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Yeah when he went to the Olympics he should have long retired. Especially since he was representing the superpower of the 100-400 in the mens division. Same with Floyd Heard.......
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?That was 5 years ago...where u been?
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Anybody think that he would make a good coach?
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?He was also among the rare long-socked World-
class sprinters...
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?I still don't know why he was left off the US Olympic Mens 4 x 100 meter relay team in 1996.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Not fast enough for the 4x1 by about 0.2 seconds...a lifetime in the relays.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?As I recall there was alot of drama with the US 4x100 team in 1996, with Carl Lewis lobbying to be on the team, etc.
In any case, my lasting impression from the actual race is Donovan Bailey blowing Dennis Mitchell off the track.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?I have mentioned this before about Mike Marsh's leg in that race. He didnt seem to go all out. (Even if the US had of caught up with Canada, Bailey would have just walked Mitchell down). I thought Williams would have been a better choice especially after beating Marsh in the 200 meter dash finals just 2 days earlier. Marsh also finished 5th in the Olympic Trials 100 earlier that year, displaying that he wasn't a bad 100 man.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Williams still runs. He goes to many meets in Southern California. Some open collegiate meets, but I think goes to more masters meets now.

Marsh should not have run considering the foot problems he was having and the U.S. was just clearly screwed from the get go. They could've built a 5m lead and Bailey still might've been able to track down Mitchell. Just a bad year (along with '95) for U.S. 100m runners.
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?Jeff is now Head T&F Coach at San Marino High School (Pasadena, CA area). Jeff succeeds fellow Olympian Barbara Ann Ferrell (-Edmonson), who ran the program in 2012. Jeff was the sprinters coach on the 2012 squad. If you wish to follow Jeff's team, go to:

Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?The question on everyone's mind: What did Jeff Williams and Alan Wells have in common ?
Re: Where is Jeff WILLIAMS?
Coached by their wives. If not that - they both worked out in an ice cold garage
