Changing the topic slightly but they just said in the CBC coverage(I love saying that) that the Japanese bronze medallist, Koji, in the hammer throw has held the national championship along with his father since 1971! I wonder if gh knew that. Probably.

We (Bob Hersh & I) announced it in the stadium at the World Championships in Edmonton.

Likely the source then. Did they ever compete against each other and at what ages? The father must have been getting up there when he stopped competing.
