While I don't expect Barron to medal, I'm hoping he at least gets a super PR and a new AR.
Don't forget, he's still a teenager (B Sept 30, 1992), so he'll have several Olympics ahead of him....if he wants!!
Would a sub-1:20 be too much to expect??
GO, Trevor!!!

Barron might have a sub-1:20 in his future, but as for today... yes, it would be way too much to expect. He did 1:24:xx in both Daegu (WC) last year and Saransk (World Cup) this year, so let's first see him walk below 1:24 in a meet of any significance. (Mind you, weather conditions will likely be somewhat kinder here...)

Improving on his 23rd place from Daegu would be an obvious and reasonable goal (and one not greatly affected by weather conditions), but it's worth noting there will likely be more finishers this year. If Barron makes the top 20 that would be a great performance for him, regardless of what the time is.

plus the winner will not go too far under 1:20, check the records. The Olympic judges are harsher then most so a more conservative start is called for to avoid early warnings.

Course is pretty narrow, seems like one of the judges wanted to show yellow card to someone but just couldn't.

Barron 26th in 1:22:46 - a good time, especially after going out with the main pack.

Borchin really did try but...

i saw tervor barron walk in eugene, and he's by far the MOST athletic USA walker i've ever seen

looks more like he would be an accomplished middle distance runner

suspect he has 5 or 6 olympics in his future based on talent

seaman is his coach, good mentor
