Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–w/ Idowu in such a tenuous position, how's chances that Taylor & Claye (not nec. in that order) match the Conley/Simpkins 1-2 of '92?
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–
guess those chances are pretty good...
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Has anyone ever medaled in both disciplines, let alone in the same Olympics?
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–
Apparently the last man to achieve that in the Olympics was a Japanese athlete in 1936.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–
I wonder when the last time was that someone pulled of a double in any 2 field-events. I'm guessing it would be a SP/DT guy or gal.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Can someone explain what the deal is with Idowu?
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor with automatic qualifier in first attempt.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–
injuries, didn't compete recently, avoided public appearances; 16.47 in first attempt, needs to improve in order to advance. edit: overall not great competition, possible that 16.47 could be just enough. Last edited by j-a-m on Tue Aug 07, 2012 2:22 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Just watched Idowu's 2nd attempt; foul, and didn't look good overall.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–More surprisingly, Claye not looking good, but may just be on track to advance.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Idowu is out, Claye currently 12th, not sure how many left.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Claye is in trouble, down to 13th.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Yes, that should be enough for Claye, 16.87 in 3rd attempt.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)16.62 for last qualifier, the standard is not very high.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–
Been hurt for a while and th BAO have been chasing him for a medical.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Has El-Sharyf been injured? I was surprised he did not reach the final.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Is there some problem with the horizontal jumping facilities in London? The standard has been terrible in all of them (including LJ in multi events). The results in other events, especially sprints and throws, have been terrific, so it can't be the weather conditions.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Claye 17.54 in second attempt.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Taylor starts with two fouls.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Taylor 17.15...

Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)Huge jump by Taylor hard for anyone to catch him now. Gruesome injury for poor sands!
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)
Yeah and he didn't worry about the board.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)What is happening with Claye?

Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)
He blew out his knee when he took off on his 3rd phase. It completely crumbled and I could see his femur move significantly out of alignment with is fibula.
Re: 2012 OG: mTJ–Taylor (US) leads Q at 56-5 3/4 (17.21)wow... that was a funny stumble by compaore...
