Ivan Tsikhan (Tikhon) is suspended from London games - positive samples from Athens 2004 and Helsinki 2005 :!: Don't know details, in Belarus:

Interesting that they waited until the last day to reveal those results.

in hammer there is no diamond league, only one meet matters all about knowing when to peak..

I can only applaud kozmus. Always throws best at the biggest competitions. I hope he's not been on some juice all these years.

Ditto Murofushi. Now I regret not putting him in the top 3 in the prediction contest... I considered it, but in the end decided that with a 72 meter SB he might not have what it takes any more. Obviously he still does!

Somehow, it doesn't surprise me as much as it should given his results this year.

Why not, especially as Sokyrskyy will qualify only 1m off his PB, Dryhol regularly beat him and both of them set their SBs outside Ukraine.

Somehow, his results this year looked too good to be true. Plus they mostly came very early in the season, and they were all in Ukraine, except for that minor meet in the Czech Republic in April.

Is there something seriously wrong with the conditions? The results in group B have been awful so far, apart from Pars.

Betcha Alex Smith wasn't expecting to make the final after he placed 10th in group A...
Only Pars and Sviatokha from group B qualified.

No, but it was very close. Over 79m for sure.

This is big upset for Polish. In one interview, he said that he's able to win a medal, maybe a gold, he had second-best result on a startlist... Only lack of experience can explain this awful performance...

Look on a regress in hammer throw - in Athens, 12th qualified athlete had 76.61 - now, this is one of the worst technical competitions in t&f.

Yes, terrible rain.
It was the luck of the draw.. one group got hammered (sorry, horrible pun), the other didn't.

That sometimes happens when someone decides that going to Euros will do him no good in preparations for London.

Yeah, same with Marshyn too.

In his interview he was pleased with how he threw (got within one metre of his PB) even though he pretty much accepted he wouldn't make the final. I think he said it would have taken a miracle to make it so yeah, he definitely wasn't expecting to make it through!

I wish I chose Kozmus for a medal now. He came into the worlds last year with a 77m season's best and came away with a medal and he's showed similar form this year although I just wondered if he was injured as he hadn't competed since early June.

Kozmus has been training on his ownin Czechia the last few months after ditching his coach due to bad results earlier in the season. In an interview today he said that he expects to throw over 80m in the final.

Surely it wasn't raining during the 2nd group? :?

The 1st on got caught up in a short shower but by the time the next lot threw it had stopped and the sun was out.

Well, I'd like to say the comp was epic... but it wasn't. The lead never changed after round 1, the medal order never changed after round 2, the exact three people everyone thought would medal after the Q indeed won the medals, none of them produced anything truly brilliant.

Not that a good writer couldn't make it sound epic...

Murofushi's throw for fifth in Beijing would have won gold here fairly handily. Disappointing final but I'm pleased, as I'm sure everyone else, Koji won another medal.

don't hold your breath waiting for Koji to get busted..

his best throws were at weights of 94 and 97kgs, .... think that may be less than this years womens discus champ .... who has been busted before..

until kozmus or Pars gets busted they deserve respect, can't think of any anomolies with them

the problem with the hammer is that you cannot make a living out of it as it is not in the diamond league..

no big shoe contract and unless you can do a Koji and become a Uni professor majoring in hammer (sort of ... applied physics) it is an orphan event
