21.88 into a -0.2 head-wind, what's that at 2.0 wind, stat monkeys?

Well, no 21.6 as I predicted but she WON!! Yep, she really does deserve this... Finally, after 8 years of silver, finally a gold one..

I hope this was a wake up call for VCB to get her act together and get a real coach.Omar is not a real coach.22.38 in a final really? I am so pissed off, nothing more than vcb focused more on the 100 and was running the 200 just on talent alone.
Congrats to Allyson and Shelly and Jeter. Shelly got silver with a 22.08 that was a cake walk for vcb.I am so pissed the hell off.

I just found out that VCB coach is none other than Omar. WTF was she thinking? I knew something was wrong when she started running those damn awful times. I hope she can bounce back at worlds.

Congrats to her on a great Olympic double, gold and silver, which is only diminished by the obsurd predictions and expectations of the flag-waiving Jamaicans.

Don't you think Felix deserves better than this post?

My post had nothing to do with Felix. SAFP deserved better than the rediculous posts by some of her "fans".

Correcting for wind in the 200m isn't necessarily as sraightforward as in the 100m, because in this case a cross-wind can provide assistance (or hindrance) on the bend. If you assume that -0.2m/s was completely in the direction of the straight, however, her time would probably be a low 21.7 with a 2m/s following wind.

I think she did focus more on the 100 than the 200... I think she should do a DFM and focus on the 200 from now on in majors... I want her back for Rio and I want her to get the gold... #maniclook. She deserves those 3 gold medals.

I just heard lance mention something along the lines about VCB thinking of retirement and i was a bit shocked because VCB should now be looking forward to Moscow to retaining her 200m world tittle

Who is Omar? Her husband? If so, maybe she's trying to save a few "coins." Who knows?

I really don't think she will drop the 100m when it's the tittle she most desperately wants .But i think she should drop the 100m for next year and focus on lowering that 200m pr and do some 400m to gain some endurance strength

I doubt that, VCB will bounce back at worlds. She said once she stop winning medals she will retire. She won a bronze in the 100 and is still world champion.I am sure she will go back to the drawing board and work on whatever needs fixing.
Again congrats to Allsyon

Yea i am disappointed too, trying to get over the shock.
But maybe she focused on the hundred because she thought this was her last good chance to complete the collection.
Congrats Felix! Vcb please return to form in 2013

It was great to watch Felix win so convincingly and so predictably. What was frustrating is to have to listen to the idiots we have commentating for New Zealand TV. And to quote "The Amecican girl Felix has upset the more favoured Carmelita Jeter".

Any real coach would have told her to do this. I mean if your going to double at lease do some 400s.VCB couldn't even break a 22.30 for heaven sakes.Omar should never have been near her training muchless coaching. I know I am going over board but a 22.10 use to be cake walk for vcb. Damn fool to make her husband trained her.I would have rather her not show up for the 200 instead of running a amature 22.38 in a finals. She knew damn well she wasn't in great shape that why she wouldn't answer any questions about the 200.
Anyways done with my rant, she is still my queen

I really think she knows within her heart what she has to do .VCB does not give up so i think she will be running more 400m next season in order to gain that endurance training but yet still do some 100m to keep her sprint speed . Does anyone know where Allyson goes from here ,does she take up the 400m or does she continue the 200m

Congrats to Felix.

I'm disappointed with VCB's run. It's as if she's forgotten how to run a 200.

I agree with those above who say she should run some quarters for some endurance strength, however Veronica has expressed many a times that she loathes running the distance and actually has only run it 4 or less times. And that was years ago :?

How big of an obstacle is running in lane 9? It isn't as tough as lane 1 or 2, correct?

I just want a better sense of how impressed or not, I should be with Jeter's performance.

omg kerron is going to Anchor the 4x100 WTF? Kerron can't even make it in the 100 meters finals how the hell can she run down Jeter? Even if Jamaica gives her a lead Jeter is going to run her ass down.Who the hell idea was it to put vcb on third leg? They just gave away another gold.Vbc is the best anchor Jamaiac has and they are willing to risk a gold medal with Kerron who sisn't even 60%? You can always leave it up to the Jamaicans to fuck things up

I think people are being too hard on VCB... She is allowed to have an off season... As much as I might not support her decision(s) at time, I must respect them...

I would hope that she gets it together in the years to come... If she intends to be a force in the 200 she is going to need step it up... We now have a 5 woman battle in the 200 at this point at the majors... one woman clearly out front and 4 women chasing her.... Of the 4 women... VCB is has the best chance of toppling Felix...

LOL! Yes efua ninsin, if I knew that the Omar they were talking about was her husband, then yes, I would have assumed that is where the Brown comes from in her name.

But alas. I had no idea whether this Omar was her husband or not. And I was going to Google him.

Have I satisfied you with my answer. Or do you have anything else smart ass to ask me?

Thanks for answering the question t_monk. :)

VCB is the best curve runner JA has.... Kerron has to be on the team.... And that is the ONLY leg I would put Kerron on.

SAFP - SS - VCB - KS is the best line up we can give at this point....

Congrats to Felix, job done as expected.

Well done S-AF-P ! First time doubling with gold and silver results is no small accomplishment given the fields she ran against.

Hold up, wait a minute! You must be joshing! Um kerron? Please tell me you heard wrong? Or maybe you heard she is running the final leg of the heats!
Ridiculous. It was already an uphill battle to win gold and now they are saying to the Americans here take the gold you can have it. Is vcb now gonna even run the relay? You know what happened in 2009!

Well I hope Richards-Ross can make the best out of a two-day recovery process for the long relay. Haven't a clue on the magnitude of fitness deficit from the last six days.

My colleague determined from his on-site recording that Felix took approximately five fewer steps than Fraser-Pryce in the final 100m with a 0.13 difference in time. Since I was told the recording was @ 60Hz, no doubt its' accuracy is very questionable. Hope to see an IAAF analysis similar to '08 on these sprint races.

Okay, let me ask you this; you want VCB on anchor...who do you put on the curve? Stewart? The left handed Stewart who is uncomfortable getting the baton in her right hand? Stewart who can't run in VCB's shadow on the curve? After watching VCB in the 200m do you still think she is the best anchor Jamaica has? She certainly is the best curve runner which makes the third leg the logical choice for her.

It is accepted that Simpson and Stewart are shadows of their former selves but guess what? They are the women we have to work with. Like it or not, the order of S-AF-P to Simpson to VCB to Stewart is the best one because it makes the best use of each runners individual strengths. Baton changing will have to be spot on to be able to challenge the USA who are clear gold medal favorites for the relay.
