Looking at the start list, I see that the 3 Kenyans have the 3 slowest (listed) 2012 season bests (2 at 32:24 and 1 at 32:26) of all the runners. Makes me a bit angry that someone like Natosha Rogers, who ended 2nd at the Trials in 31:59.21 should NOT make the London team, while the 3 Kenyans who have SLOWER 2012 bests make it!! It's not the Kenyans I'm pissed at, but the stupid qualifying rules USATF or the USOC follow!! Next time.......make it the first three to the tape......PERIOD!!!!

This is daft. The Kenyan marks were contested and recorded at altitude in Nairobi. Their season's best marks, if recorded at altitude, will likely be slower than notable non-altitude qualifiers.
I wonder if this will be akin to a Cross Country race between Kenya and Ethiopia, with each "team's" women blocking, boxing in, pacing, etc for their teammates, until maybe 2K to go.
Or will it be "every woman for herself" from the gun??
And will anyone be brave enough to take it out in 14:50, and say "I DARE you to stick with me!!"??

I'm hoping for the latter!!
in the 2004 olympics the ethiopian girls were supposed to take turns leading, but kidane did almost all the work/ leading, her husband gebremariam told the media in ethiopia that it was unfair and that she was upset, she called it the worst day of her life.

How could she be selected when she doesn't have the A Standard ??
All the KEN have it from last year 30.38/48 and 31.26 there is no comparison

What does USATF or USOC have to do with her not getting the A standard? Getting 2nd without an A, was not going to mean much and she knew it. And they had perfect conditions also that night. It was her own fault, along with the other nonAs, for a dawdling pace.
Or do you mean every country should get 3 entries? Which is even more daft.

It appears you do not understand either the qualifying procedure or who makes the rules.

However, why ruin a good rant
And a "rant' is just about all it was!! But seriously, I think it's unfair when you have a female 100 runner with a PR of 15.00, or another woman who runs 80 seconds in her 400 heat........yet not allow the woman who finished 2nd in the Trials to run in London.
My solution, obviously, is a drastic one.
Change the rules.....whoever makes them!! (Not familiar with that, so my "facts" of naming USATF or USOC was just guesswork!!)
First three in. But if she doesn't have an "A" standard, allow time to get it.....up till maybe one week before the Games, like they used to. I'm sure Rogers could have found a meet somewhere, and run her "A". I mean, that gal with the 15.00 100 obviously did NOT meet the "A".......or "B".....or even "Z" standard. Ditto the 80 sec 400 girl!!

Where? What meet? 10Ks are not run very often. Find us the one she could have run in, please. And, she's had the last year to get her "A".

They tried this chasing marks a few times. It didn't work well at all and I am glad they got rid of it.
The 10k women had a PERFECT, unlike the men earlier, night in Hayward Field to get the A standard. If they couldn't get it that night with that crowd and those conditions, then that is their problem. But for various reasons that we have discussed elsewhere, the nonAs let it all go to waste.

Had anyone wanted to go for the A standard they could have ran the first 4k or so with Debrah Maier

Wanted? As if they had much choice, other than the As. Perhaps, mathematics was the problem, and the nonAs could only multiply by 2 while running. They only seemed to come alive when they hit the 5k in 16:15 and doubling that was not going to work.

If I knew that i had to run an A to go to the Olympics I would memorize the splits I wanted/needed and would ignore the other runners if they were running slower than goal splits.

I would too. But until 5k, and with only one exception, no one seemed to understand that or to care.
She ran her 5K's in approximately 15:32 and 14:48!! Her last 3000 was about 8:44!! Her final 1K was 2:45.68. Don't have her final 400, but close to 61 or 62??
