Re: 2012 OG w100H–
Her recent bobble notwithstanding, this one's Pearson's to win or lose. If she's on (and I'm hoping and expecting she will be), she's a lock, even WITH the imminent omnipresent threat of hurdle catastrophe. Go Sally! (though I met and spoke with Ms. Harper at the OT, and she was super-nice! If she or Wells wins instead, I think I can handle that!

Re: 2012 OG w100H–after 9 days ... the magical land of Oz has produced one gold and that in a womens swimming relay ..
don't think Freeman had as much expectation of her back as Sally.. you go girl.. don't worry about the once every four year experts back here ... in one months time they will be back with their beer and football.. this is for you, your team and the world and the people who matter
Re: 2012 OG w100H–I'm a huge Jessica Ennis fan and was emotionally moved upon seeing her win the Heptathlon yesterday and the 80,000 cheering voices. What a moment! Her heptathlon Olympic record in the 100H was one of top times of the year for all 100H athletes. Only 3 other athletes have run faster (and only barely). She would be one of the favorites to medal. How could she give up that opportunity? I could understand if her 100H time was 20 or 30 down on the list. I could also understand if she thought her performance was an anomaly, that it couldn't possibly be repeated. I see that her next-best 110H time this year was quite a bit slower. But perhaps she is peaking at the right time, and she'll have the energy of the crowd behind her again. Athletes don't compete in the Olympics only for themselves, but also for their country and their fans. Why not give the fans another thrilling 12+ seconds, and her country a great shot at another medal?
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
I can only surmise that Jessica Ennis is currently experiencing the mother of all energy crashes after her exploits at the weekend. Only a select few people will have ever experienced the pressure of being the poster woman/man for a home Olympics, and the nervous energy and adrenalin she expended over the past week must be exhausting. Not to mention a heptathlon on top of that. Paradoxically, rather than being spurred on by her heptathlon gold to take on the specialists in the hurdles, it may be quite hard to re-motivate yourself after the highs she must have experienced on Saturday?
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Really getting annoyed by NBC talking about Lolo and the USA comp without even once mentioning Sally --- as if she is a non-factor.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/l ... 6433398925 I don't think Sally's worried.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–I am more worried about the dis-service NBC is doing for the US viewers who are not up to speed on who the favorite is - NBC talks as if the race is about the Americans - people who are not familar are being robbed of the real comp that each American is going to have to overcome - and her name is not mentioned - IT"S SALLLY freaking PEARSON - nbc
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
D'OH!!! If there was a bigger reason for NBC to worry that Lolo might not be ready to do battle in the 100H, Jess was it! Now that she's out, they'll never stop talking about Lolo. Unfortunately, 12.7x might not make the final, even if the semis are 3 heats. Whoever wins will probably have to break Joanna Hayes' OR (12.37). Sally ran 12.28 last year, and Lolo hasn't come close to her 12.29w in the 2008 Trials, let alone her legal 12.43. Right now, I'd say only Dawn Harper will come "closest" to challenging Sally for the gold. If Jessica were in this race, Sally would have 2 girls to worry about, along with something else: Not ending up tasting the Mondo surface, like Gail did 20 years ago.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
12.7x has almost always been good enough to make the final though.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
Will it be good enough this time, fast as this track is? I don't think anyone (Lolo least of all) wants to take a chance of trying to get in on time.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–I'm really disappointed that Jessica has opted out of the hurdles.
I understand fully what she's been through, and can fully appreciate her wanting to party for a few days!! But Jeez, looking at the heats line-ups, she's 0.15 ahead of the second girl's PR in her heat!! She could cruise into the next round.....while sipping some bubbly along the way!!! Come on, Jessica, we LOVE you!!! We can never get enough of you!!! You da MAN!!! (Okay, da GAL!!! PLEASE reconsider!!!
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
Sure, it would be great to see Ennis run in the 100h, but if it's her decision not to, then I respect that.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Talay, Zelinka, Porter with relatively fast times in first heat.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Wells 12.69, even though the computers get it wrong.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Yanit 12.70, Harper just behind; fast heat, Holder only 4th or 5th, but is gonna get q
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Foster-Hylton (13,98) looked liked she injured her lead-leg's hamstring in her heat with L Jones (12,68); tried carrying that through, but it has ditched her Olympic dream.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Okay, SHUT UP, all you Lolo Bashers!!!
SECOND FASTEST Q......behind Sally Pearson!!! (Not only that, but she goes out of her way to try to console Foster-Hylton!!) Go Lolo!!!! Last edited by aaronk on Mon Aug 06, 2012 1:50 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
First upset with BFH not advanding to semis. Lolo's gotta be careful with lane violations, otherwise good run.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
Not clear that she was injured, but after clobbering a hurdle she was thrown off balance so bad she staggered into the next lane. Had she impeded another runner she might have been dq. .
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
I think she got slightly out of rhythm in the lead-up to the previous hurdle and couldn't adjust her steps properly afterwards, thus the crash.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
No she wasn't injured just clobbered a hurdle and all is gone ...

Re: 2012 OG w100H–
Ennis 12.54s still the fastest in 100mH after Q,if adjusting herself well, she can win a medal. However, she did not recover well after hep,
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Pearson (Aus) leads Q to semis at 12.57So what did Lolo say to Brigitte??? That was quite a little temper tantrum!
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Pearson (Aus) leads Q to semis at 12.57I don't think that had anything with what Lolo said to her, Brigitte was desperate even before Lolo came to her and after... Rio is too far for her, she will be 42 and doesn't have an Olympic medal. I hope she will run next year at least.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–
Oh dear, I'm laughing so hard, I think I peed myself!
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Pearson (Aus) leads Q to semis at 12.57
She said 2012 will be her last year. However, I'm sure she wouldn't want to retire on this sort of note so perhaps she might try next year. I sure hope she does.
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Pearson (Aus) leads Q to semis at 12.57Jones pretty intense in her post-race interview with Lewis Johnson, referring to all the "haters"
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Pearson (Aus) leads Q to semis at 12.57
On twitter?
Re: 2012 OG w100H–Pearson (Aus) leads Q to semis at 12.57
She didnt specify. She came off the track wired tight and Johnson asked her why she was so intense.
