Why does the height progression start at 4.10? That seems pretty far below qualifying standards.

#5 Feofanova with two misses at 4.40; almost got hurt with the second one.

Exactly 12 clear 4.55, so no tie-breaker needed.

Murer barely clears 4.50, then three misses at 4.55. Feofanova NH at 4.40. #4,5,10 don't make the final.

Isi was way over the bar on both attempts, looking good for gold.

The 4.50 as non-Q equals the highest ever, same as the last three WCs.

Even more of a coincident that both times she was kicked out by Ptácniková taking her last jump...

Probably a good idea to enter the competition relatively early and get in some clearances, as long as conditions are still fine.

Didn't work for Bleasedale. First Brit I've seen for whom the occasion was obviously too much, she looked like a cat with dysentery on a molten lead roof.

Short version - she choked.

I have to wonder if the micromanaging from Bleasdale's coach hindered her rather than helped her. She seemed really distracted while waiting for his signal to start her run up. Surely it is better for the athlete to make their own judgement on the wind and the clock?

Noticed that too, and it cannot have helped surely. But the pure desperation in her eyes when she was looking at him leads me to believe that she was psyched out from the get-go.

She just couldn't hack it today.

I agree! How can you do your last minute mantra when you are watching the coach? BTW ... is Jenn Suhr waiting to enter at 4.75?!

Spiegelburg in the lead with 4.65, Silva and Isi have cleared that as well, Suhr passing at that height; not sure if anyone else is still in the competition.

Strutz is, with 2 attempts left for 470.

Now Suhr clears 4.70 to take the lead.

Thank you ... I just saw the 4.70 clearance. The coverage in South Africa is quite good, but I must have missed her 4.55 clearance. Go Jenn!

Maybe they should have left the camera off of Silke. She had a bit of a meltdown.

Right, she's going up into the bar. But the wind seems pretty bad so that might be the problem. She has passed to 4.80 for her last attempt. Suhr failed her first attempt at 4.80 with a similar issue of not being in the right position going up.
