USAIN Bolt will be clocking sub 44 seconds at age 18 years o

USAIN Bolt be clocking sub 44 at age 18 years old. In fact I expect him to be in the 400 meters final at the next olympics running about 44 seconds at age 17. At about 6ft 8 inches in 2006 at age 19, I think Bolt will be challenging the world record for the 400 meters running sub 43. USAIN Bolt needs to do it fast because this young man could become 6ft 10 inches by age 22 and could be too tall to run the 200 meters. The 400 might stil be be okay at that height.

On onther note however,Usain Bolt will run 19.9 by this summer(2003) in the 200 Meters and by next summer (2004) he will be running 19.7 at 6ft 6inches tall. I personally think that USain BOlt will be too tall to ever clock the 19.32 or better for the 200 meters because in another three years he will be about 6ft 8 inches tall. His height will impede him fromm running the bend at the blazing speed that it takes to clock this time. It is this fact that will make him focus on the 400 meters and hence the Amazing record.

P.S USAIN Bolt is now 6ft 5inches and 16 years old. has run 20.25 for the 200 and 45.3 for the 400 in a trottle. Think about this, he could be running the 400 meters and the 400 meters hurdle?? in another 2 years.

Great talent! I expect the young Jamaican to break the 200 world junior record by next year. He has already run 20.25 this year, so it wouldn't even be a total surprise if he broke the WJR in Paris. But no sub-20 this year. It's hard for seasoned pros of late to do it, I don't see Bolt doing it either.

I don't think he will clock sub-44 clocking by age 18 though. And **sub-43?!** No way. His PB is 45.35.

As alternatives, I could see Bolt in the 400 hurdles. How about the pole vault, assuming he underwent the necessary technical training? Speed is one of the key elements in that event.

It is amazing how much better US sprinters are than US distance runners.

US sprinters and Keyan distance runners are the most powerful force in track and field.

two words- Obea Moore

certainly Bolt is a talent but anyone who has followed this sport knows that doesn't mean a whole lot. there is a long list of "woulda, shoulda, coulda" athletes out there.

Usain Bolt is a natural talent and have been running exceptional times for a young man of his age, as some of you have mentioned before "only time will tell", I would love to see him develop to his full potential and go on to compete on the olympic and world championships ( men ) stage, but before I get too optimistic I will wait to see what the next 2 years bring for him. Having grown up in Jamaica I have seen many a great potential at high school level just fade away in later years, but on the flip side never has anyone in the country seen someone of his age run such brilliant times, so let's hope that all the pessimists and doubters are wrong and that he will go on to be just as great as Michael Johnson ( if not better )...Time will tell.

I'm not a doubter. I'm a realist. Every year or two some kid pops some good times and all the high school/junior honks go crazy over it. I'm not a big fan of HS/Juniors stuff so until the kid actually somewhere further down the path toward greatness than at the beginning I basically don't bother with it. There have been far more cases of brief candle syndrome than rising star phenomenon.

The world Championship this year will put all doubtful Thomases to rest. This kid will be ready to take on most of the world in the 200 meters next year at the olympics!!!!!!

You will definitely be struck by a Bolt of ligtening before you realise it. You are looking too far out into the future. This kid is ready to start striking now. After another 7 weeks you will see the effects of a Lightneneing bolt or perhaps as early as a week and a half time.

Two sub 20.3 is incredible at 16. With more consistent running with other competitors at the level where other people ar running below the 20.3 seconds will onle do bolt good since he has not yet been tested. Leading up to the world championship we will start seeing times closer to 20.00 for Bolt or even a sub 20 before the summer is out.
