Arguably, the weakest event in track and field in the U.S. is the javelin. The American record for women was set over 20 years ago. No American woman has thrown over 200 feet in years.
Is it possible for coaches to select pitchers from baseball and softball teams and convert them into javelinist?

Jav, and other events, needs a billionaire track fan to put up $$$$$$$ for the throwers. (Were you ever a jav fan, Bill Gates?...) Too bad Terry Bradshaw and Russ Francis chose NFL over jav chucking... (both HS recordholders) Girls HSR is 36 years old now. You'd think someone would aim for that (or at least something comparable, with new implement) But really - money is probably the only solution. Or maybe we could start with jav competitions with ex-NFL quarterbacks during halftimes. Or bring Baseball Throw into T&F?? (then baseball AND javelin biathlon..?)
