4x200m Relay

Postby Guest » Mon Jun 16, 2003 7:19 pm

I feel that since the Olympics and the Track and Field World Championships are so intense, that another fun relay would help end the championships and Olympic games in a very exciting fashion. The relays are so that the fans and the athletes have fun, and plus athletes for both the male and female side can still make the team. We need to have the 4x200m relay, so more of our great 100m/200m sprinters can qualify for the teams.

There should be a sprint and a distance medley at the Olympics.
For the Sprint Medley
400m Tyree Washington 44.25
200m John Capel 19.89
200m Justin Gatlin 19.95
800m David Krumm 1:43.90 Gold medal!!!

Distance Medley
1200m Micheal Stember 2:48
400m Calvin Harisson 44.5
800m Khadivas Robison 1:44.8
1600m Jason Lunn 3:52 We need a faster miler! Top 5

I agree, I'd much rather see a distance medley relay rather than another relay for sprinters, but of course there is no way our very top talent would agree to double up in it. And of course, Kenya could field a team of its second-rate talent and still beat the snot out of the rest of the world.

ya thats true. id like to c a 4x800 relay instead of the 4x200 and add the DMR. finally the races for sprinters and dinstance runners would b equal.

I don't know if they still do it or not, but I remember watching a Sprint Medley at the indoor WC in 93 in Toronto. I think it went Kevin Little-James Trapp-Butch Reynolds-Mark Everett and they didn't win by all that much (first two legs might be reversed). It was pretty exciting and Butch gave a bunch of us the pumped fist (I went with a bunch of OSU alums).
