Re-Cycling Running Shoes

Perhaps a bit off topic, but: Does anyone know anything about re-cycling old running shoes? I thought I read something about it a long time ago. Note: these are not shoes with any mileage left in them. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

they had this thing on mtv ab wether nike gave u a new pair if u sent the old one in. well u dont but nike does recycle them. they make tracks and playground equipment and such. i think u just bring them back to the store but not to sure. email nike i guess
