Thank you for the link. Montgomery HS has had some fine runners in the past. I've lived in Silicon Valley for 40 years, but Santa Rosa is in another section, so I was unaware of her hs performances. Making the Olympic team after failing to qualify for NCAA is exceptional. I hope that she and Huddle break 31 because only eight women did in 2013.
Thank you for directing me to the story. I had not known that she and Lauren Wallace were college teammates and that she and Sara Bei Hall were high school teammates. Conley may have been in 9th grade when Hall was in 12th grade because of their 3 year age difference. These runners show how post college support helps athletes.
the finding of the story is pure serendipity, as it didn't show up in any of our "automated" trolls for track-related links.
but I'm off in wine country for the weekend, and the inn didn't have any San Francisco Chronicles, much to my chagrin (it being, for better or worse, my "hometown" paper). Instead they had the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat, and lo and behold, 2/3 of the front page of the sports section was the Conley piece.
