His biggest margin over the field is just 0.10; not real large given the variance in performance. Gatlin is the favorite, but not a walk-over. Also, last time out Vicaut ran a double 9.95 (good wind, though). And, Gatlin's 9.89 had a good, legal wind.

The only thing which would shock me in this race was if Gatlin finished out of the top-3. He's the favorite but not a heavy one and anyone in the field could pull off the upset.

Saying that Justin Gatlin was "twice banned for drugs" is technically correct, but intellectually dishonest.

Did Locke go pro or is he just over there as part of the relay pool? If so, who is he running for?

why?

Because the drug in question was Adderall, prescribed for his attention deficit disorder.

And, banned from competition. It's your argument that is intellectually dishonest. He tested positive for a drug that was banned by the sport and he served a punishment for it. It is what it is. He also got a reduced sentence for something that SHOULD have served as a life ban - a 2nd test positive.

Hopefully they teach him to run a straight line. Not sure if he didn't like to be in lane 8 or was trying to get a peak at the others but he wandered into lane 7 at least twice.

And he was either 19 or 20, and not particularly aware of such things. Furthermore, it was officially ruled as only a technical violation, not a Performance Enhancing Drug violation. So, no, he was not 'twice convicted of doping. Further, if he had not been a poor college kid he probably could have successfully fought the first case.

Back to the race, this was intrinsically a better race than his 9.95/+wind, as it is a sub-10 Basic with a poor start! Gatlin finishes reasonably well and Vicaut was gaining on him after the first 20m.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Bailey-Cole will not run the relay final in Moscow. At this stage he is just not up to scratch. So I think it will be Carter -Weir-Ashmeade- Bolt

locke deserves alot of credit after what he went thru at tenn, hanging in there and improving, what a race today., at the ncaa's and us nationals it looked like all he was lacking was running thru the line at the finish. with locke, silmon, batson, salaam, young, bracy?, the us sprint future doesn't look too bad.

What a huge difference the change in environment/transfer and the training has meant to his development.

JAM's best chance of winning the relay has Bolt on 2nd or 3rd leg. But I guess in the U.S.'s weakened state, maybe they put him on anchor and bank on him running down anyone that might have somehow sqeaked to a lead. Still will probably win with him on anchor, just not as certain, IMHO.

NO
Bolt will run the anchor leg.
And only if USA has 3 metres or more advantage will win.
If USA has few difference with Jamaica, Bolt will destroy them 8-)

With the current pool of athletes available I think the JA line up is pretty straight forward....

Carter - KBC - Ashmead - Bolt (this is provided that KBC and Ashmead come good in Moscow, if not swap one of these guys out for Weir.

The good thing about they relay is that Bailey-Cole won't have to block-start. He should be fine on second leg.

I'd put Weir on the curve, he does run a good one.

The most important part of the J 4x100 is finding three guys who won't cock it up before getting the stick to Bolt. If he's within 3 meters, maybe 5, they have a win. Get him the baton is rule #1. All else is icing.
