Lolo trying out for Olympic boxing team--?

Postby Brian » Tue Jul 16, 2013 1:27 pm

[From the front page]

Allegedly smacked down a woman bothering her at a bar in Lake Placid, site of US bobsled training.

[Lake Placid, not the bar.]

If true Jones wasn't the aggressor, I say good for her.

As the woman who allegedly accosted Jones is supposedly named Cherry, Internet folks having fun already noted that "I'm a virgin" Jones finally popped a cherry.

Lolo has folks talking about bobsled in July. Bodsledders should be thankful that she's making their sport relevant.

That violent crazy b***h Tanya Harding had people talking about figure skating during the 1990's as well.

Ms. Jones seems to have real problems with the females...

And no it ain't just about jealousy.

I think you better think about editing out the "B" word.....before GH sees it!!
I'm pretty sure that's a no-no when it comes to names to call women on this MB......even if, in Harding's case, it might be warranted!!

It sounds like this girl had it coming:

We spoke with two people at the bar who witnessed the altercation. They both tell us that Carlino's stepdaughter was visibly intoxicated, and verbally confronted Jones and Evans near the dance floor. Jones pushed the stepdaughter to the ground, the witnesses said, and left the bar.

Why, with sound logic and cool reasoning, of course!

They always respond positively to that approach.

Lolo does not have to "try" for attention.
She gets tons of it just by breathing!! :P

Like you know

"This trying for attention" notion is somewhere close to ridiculous. Yes, she gets attention, and yes, some people do not like it. But, please lay out a chain of reasoning that would convince a person that does not know the people involved that would include as the primary factor that Lolo was trying to get attention.

Just as in politics, some people dislike/resent/envy Lolo's appearance/athletic achievement for whatever their own reasons ( that I do not understand) and will disapprove of anything she says/does or does not do.

Others, and we are legion, admire her athletic talent/perseverance/humor/morals and
attractiveness, all of which tend to garner generally favorable attention. So far as I know, she has not deliberately, or unintentionally, done anything to harm anyone. It is only common sense for anyone making their way in life to take advantage of publicity that comes their way.

I think that the syntax actually does parse.

Please lay out a chain of reasoning that would have as its major element that Lolo was trying to get attention and to do so she sought out a local bigwig to 'hit' (I do not thing that we actually know what transpired...).

Well said, one of the most rational comments I've seen on Lolo.
She knows how to market herself and being single hasn't hurt her case.

To me, the problem has been that greater talents are overlooked by the media. We can't blame Lolo for any of that.

Who knows, she might have even gained a bit of respect from her detractors from her little boxing match.

Where do we go to get our Team Lolo merchandise?

This will certainly jazz up the TV presentation quite a bit. Still doesn't make up for the loss of Lindsay Vaughn.

This morning they were talking about Lolo on MSNBC's Morning Joe. The fact that the non-sports media is now covering her probably means that she has a bright future once her athletic careeer is over.

Your assumption is that talent should get wider media attention than personality.

To be fair, at one point Lolo Jones was legitimately the favourite for Olympic gold. That deserve a high profile. Certain other characters in her event didn't do themselves any favours by showing how petty and jealous they were of the attention she gets. Now not giving any names: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owFW8V0MxuM

Who knows, she might have even gained a bit of respect from her detractors from her little boxing match.

Vaughn is a great athlete, but outside of being Tiger Woods girlfriend Lolo is clearly more well known so in terms of media interest Lolo makes up for her loss I suppose.

IMO, only Harper came across as jealous and petty, while Wells only answered the question, and actually used the same words that Lolo herself had used to talk about the race. To be fair, the host was trying to bait them for a soundbite, but that doesn't mean Harper had to take the bait.

The host was referring to a comment Harper had already made and Wells repeated the words but with such a snarky manner and big smug look about it after Lolo Jones had been referenced it's hard to believe she wasn't rubbing it in.
