It would be great to see James and Merritt go head to head a bunch this year. The races so far have already been really good and I look forward to more.

Unlike the sprinters James and Merritt are definitely not ducking each other ! Both got SB and are way ahead of the rest of the world.

Both will probably run sub 44 in Moscow which is good for the event really

I think that will be the first major final since MJ and butch in 95 but that that was a run away. This one will be close. I see them even in the 43.5 - 43.7 range.

I'd say more 43.6-43.7.

James learned the last time out at Pre that he could not get out relatively slowly against LM and this time he lead pretty much all of the way.

It looks like LM has lost a little weight this year at least his upper body does not seem to be as muscular as in the past.

I'd say more 43.6-43.7.

I would even say 43.7-43.8. I don't feel as if Merritt is in PR form. But Both could surprise and go much faster than any of us expect.

Also agree with your other comment about James in the straight, once Merritt came off the curve behind, I couldn't imagine him catching James.

Lane draws for the finals at the WC is going to play a crucial role in how this race unfolds.

Is Kirani James still young enough to improve on Steve Lewis's WJR of 43.87 from 1988 in Seoul?

Kirani James beat Larry James today!!

Yes, you read that correctly!
Kirani James, age 20, ran an age 20 record of 43.96, beating the previous mark of 43.97, held by LARRY James, from 1968!!

From James to James!
Poetic!! :D

Feeling a lot better about the USA 4x400 at Moscow after this race.

Lets wait until Moscow though. 5 weeks is still a significant time, and Merritt was on point until Monaco last year. But yes, right now? no one is touching the US relay.

(whats up with the entire BA team?)

He talked about it prior to the race.

“I’ve a new coach this year, I work with Loren Seagrave in Florida. So, my training is a little bit different, I do less weight training. But I still work as much as I used to do."

I think he was with Seagrave last year, too.

More for LaShawn.

I think Kirani can do just as fine from an inner lane or outer.
