SB by Merritt, rounding into shape at the right time. It was a very close race though. The French guy acted like he broke the WR !

The list of medal contenders is almost endless: Merritt, Oliver, Richardson, Brathwaite, Parchment, Shubenkov, Ortega, Wilson, Martinot-Lagarde, Riley... maybe more.

True but I think in the end the sub 13 guys will prevail.
Btw parchment didn't make the jamaican team as he was injured at the jamaican trials

Did they rule him out yet? I thought the injury wasn't severe and there was talk about giving him a wildcard for Moscow.

Well one of the Jamaican athletes who is going to Moscow will be disappointed if they get kicked off the team for favoritism like that...

Parchment does not have any wild card from DL or WC...

Merritt didn't finish well but he has to be the favorite; Richardson needs to find another gear or he might not make the final.

Not only was he in Paris but he just entered the relms of world class hurdling. Running a sizeable Personal Best down from 13.31 to 13.12 I think he can be forgiven for his celebrations.

His brother Thomas in that same field ran a PB himself of 13.26 so celebrations all around.

Merritt is as much as the favorite as Andrew Riley, who is as much a favorite as Oliver, and Ortega, and Wilson, and Richardson, and Brathwaite...and everyone croflash previously mentioned.

There is no way you can single out a favorite this year.

There is a way, I just did and I'll do it again.

Rehabbing WR beats all the pretenders a month from the WC; Braithwaite, Riley and the French guys have never run 13.09. If Merritt regains his health, he's the easy favorite in a very weak year.

At this point in the season? there is no favorite. If Merritt beat everyone else the next race out, then well see.
But this race clearly shows why everyone is in it. there was a .06 difference between 1st and 6th! and .13 to 7th! One grazed hurdle and you go from 1st to 7th.
