Postby aaronk » Tue Jul 02, 2013 4:04 pm

Rudy Winkler broke Conor McCullough's HSR of 260-0 for the 12 lb HT with a mark of 260-5 and 1/4 today, MileSplit is reporting.
He also broke another weight record for the HT.
MileSplit says more details to come!

ADD: The other record was McCullough's mark for the 6k HT of 248-11.
Winkler threw the latter 249 feet and one half inch!

No further details yet.

Wow, I thought McCullough's marks would last longer. I hope Winkler stays in track and field longer!

So did I. I also thought McC would make his mark (pun!) with the 16-lber. Here's hoping RW does! I guess it's too early to lose faith in McC, so here's hoping they both get to 80m+!

He's going to Cornell next year. Between him and Stephen Mozia (who recently threw a pr in discus of 61.13m / 200 ft 4 in)they're going to have a ridiculous throws program.

So the record stays in the Ivy League, as has been duly noted.

there was also a Junior weight competition as well and his 249-0(75.91) broke the HSR by an inch. Cutting the bologna thin twice!

As for the weight of the hammer.... I wish I was just throwing 6k, but I've been chasing the high school record for a long time now and I needed to do it before I left for college. I'm almost unsatisfied with that mark. I had a couple of throws that would have been further if I had just done a few more things correctly. I know I can throw even further, but I'm done [training] with the 12lb. I have one more meet with it in a few weeks. Other than that I'll most likely just be throwing 6k. My 6k mark from this meet didn't count because it was in a developmental section afterwords that was held just for fun. So now I'll be chasing whatever records I can with the 6k. Hopefully I can repeat what I threw with it yesterday.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Winkler was responding to Europeans wondering why he was throwing 5.44kg and not 6kg all the time.
