Moscow men's 4x100

Postby JumboElliott » Sun Jun 30, 2013 6:22 am

Rather than start arguments on the Blake thread, eat your heart out here.

Jamaica:
No Blake or Frater from 2012
Three men under 10.00
No one under 9.90
What form is Bolt in?
Chance for Asafa?

USA
No Bailey or Kimmons from 2012
Six men under 10.00
Two men under 9.9
One man under 9.8
Can Tyson Gay stay healthy?

Remaining medal contenders:
T&T, UK, France Saint Kitts and Nevis, Canada, Japan,

I'm thinking for JAM the team will probably be comprised of Weir, Bolt, Carter and Bailey-Cole at this time.

Bolt, Ashmead and Weir doubling.... So one of them is undoubtedly out of the line-up. They could swap in Powell if he is seen to be fit enough.

I agree with that current line up if they don't sneak in Powell, if they do add Powell I would say:
Carter/Powell - Bailey Cole - Bolt - Weir/Powell

the question will be which bolt will be running in august

how much under 10 will he be

and if gay is 9.75 will gaitlen be in good enough form to have bolt chasing gay

I think it will be close enough so passing will decide who wins

Bolt will still be a monster on the curve.

I am trying to figure out what the US line up will be at this point....

Rodgers - Gatlin - Gay - Young?

I am pretty sure Rodgers will be starting, Gatlin has always been on 2nd, Gay on 3rd seems an obvious choice but who closes?

Shouldn't Silmon be in the number.

Fabulous question: who closes? and that's where the US problems lies.

Just a correction, Weir wont be doubling.

Honestly I would go Silmon-Rodgers-Gay-Gatlin... Do we have any hurdlers that could challenge for that leadoff? I know Terrence Trammell used to run some 4x1's?

Yeah.... Thanks for that.... He runs the 200 though so that puts him out of the heats of the 4x100. The heats of the 4x100 and the finals of the 200 are way too close for anyone to want to or should jeopardize their chances in the open 200 to run in the heats of the 4x100 IMHO

Even with Blake out, when you look at the personnel's at the disposal of both teams, it is clear that Jamaica still have a decent advantage.

Slight advantage.

Carter, Bailey Cole, Bolt, Weir
Rodgers, Gatlin, Gay, Young/Silmon

Considering Bolt and Gatlin are both injured, but Gatlin still is in 9.8 form.

Jamaica gets an advantage because Bolt is Bolt.

I'd go Cater-Bailey Cole-Bolt & Powell .....I think Weir is a good curve runner as well so maybe if Powell is not fit he can run third

It is important to remember; because of finishing 7th at trials Asafa technically isn't in the six that the JAAA traditionally uses for the relay pool.

Asafa is going to have to put down some good numbers between now and WC declaration day in order for the JAAA to push either Jason Livermore or Oshane Bailey out.

i'm guessing that since he moved to anchor for WRs in Daegu and London that we won't see him back as No. 3 in Moscow.

Silmon? Far too green to go against the World record holders.

I'd have Rodgers, Gatlin, Young, and Gay(Btw, as great as Bolt is he will have major difficulty running down a healthy Gay if his mates give him a decent lead)

And that whole schedule change thing probably has some influence, at least in terms of desired "Glory"...

But I think the men's 200 final is at 8:05pm on the 17th, and the heats of the men's 4x1 aren't until 4:50pm the next day with the 4x1 final less than 2 hours after the heats, so any 4x1 athletes will be done with the 200 before they run 4x1 heats.. Or did you mean that 4x1 practice could affect their 200m preparation and performance?

With Blake probably out, depending on news confirming what we've all heard, that should push Asafa into the mix....

Jamaica's chances of winning this is by no means certain, without Blake, so with Asafa running 9.97 in that "first" race in Ostrava, I think he's put himself into contention for the relay. Of course, there's a lot to be determined between now and then, so I prefer to look at the Jamaica squad as a six-man squad...I don't think we can choose a four-man team yet.

Nesta Carter
Nickel Ashmeade
Kemar Bailey-Cole
Usain Bolt
Asafa Powell
Jason Livermore/Oshane Bailey

Livermore's best for this season so far is 10.07, I think, and Bailey 10.11....

In Beijing, shortly after Veronica won the 200m, she anchored in the heats of the 4 x 100m. I believe it was less than a two hour break.

What they should do

USA
Rodgers
Gatlin
Gay
Silmon
Reserves-Kimmons, Salamm

Jamaica
Carter
Blake
Bolt
Powell
Reserves-Ashmeade, Bailey Cole

What they'll likely do....
USA
Silmon
Gatlin
Gay
Someone Who Isn't Rodgers....

Jamaica
Carter
Bailey-Cole
Ashmeade
Bolt

IMO USA looks like they might have a slight edge on paper, but considering Powell has been injured, the possible return on Blake, and Bolt's tendency to knock tenths off his times at a championship, Jamaica probably wins.
