76.25 per lap with a last lap of 75 is a 31:45.

Kevin Selby doing commentary for Flotrack. Some pre-race interviews right now, outlining the IAAF rules and their efforts to comply.

Did they have to set up cones? I read that they installed a rail, but the IAAF still didn't approve it.

It was the Roosevelt track that needed cones. This Jesuit track has a rail and is compliant.

77 second laps will get her a B, so a 5:08 has her right on the money.

You are correct ... I mean a tad slow for the A standard, not the B.

I understood you the first time regarding an A. Obviously, Erdmann is rooting hard for a Hasay A.
My thought is that Hasay's ultimate goal is a B, but if she feels great after 8-10 laps, then maybe they pick it up and shoot for an A.

And pick it up they have......the 3200 time has her right on pace for an A (actually, a second off, but close enough at this stage)

I think Hasay's goal is an A, as that would make it easier for Erdmann. She pretty much said that in her interview and Salazar said she should make it easily.

Bit of a conflict there with Hasay and Erdmann both running for Salazar. If Erdmann wasn't a Salazar runner, I'm thinking Hasay wouldn't have to work so hard and could just cruise to a B; but as you said, maybe she can cruise to an A without leaving too much out there.

That puts her on a 31:50 pace, so she'll need to step it up a bit for an A, but looks in great shape for a B

I don't think there is any doubt about going for the A. That's the only way Ms. Erdman can go to Moscow. And JH looks good, only 18 seconds off her 5K PR.

She's only got two pacers now, as one of the others stepped off (injured, stepped on rail) a couple of laps ago. Last two laps in 76 after the 4 mile point.

Maybe they are since the 31:52 pace assumes equal lap times and we can hope that the last 1600 or so will go at a faster pace. Is she right behind the pacers?

Erdmann can go if she gets the A, no matter what Hasay does. If Hasay doesn't get the A or B, Erdmann can go if she gets the B.

That puts her around a 31:58 pace. At 70 degrees, it's probably a tad warmer than they would have preferred, but winds are light at 7MPH.
