Is Felix Kitur, in section 1 tonight, any relation to Samson Kitur, who ran 44.18 for Kenya at Barcelona.....in a semi??
(That's the Kenyan NR!)

Samson is his uncle. Felix's father, David Kitur, also ran the 400m (44,73 PB).

Looks like Brandon Johnson will be inspiring some less than world class hurdlers.

Brandon Johnson at 1:44.85, his previous PR was 1:46.23... nice drop. Just missed the "A" standard of 1:45.6 though.

Yes, he DID "win"!!
He DID run 1:44.84.
He was DQ'd for stepping on the line AT THE START????
What a FARCE!!
If it was at the start, how the Hell did he interfere with another runner.....or gain anything at all??
This ruling should be appealed.....and overturned!!

Being DQed for stepping on the line hardly makes it a farce.

Farce if it was 2-to-a Lane--and in a sport which tosses out Champs like they were Wheaties!

In contrast, watching the Copa del Rey, Futbolistas faked face-hits anytime an elbow came near, until Cristiano Ronaldo was finally tossed for "retaliating" against an aggressive, blatant takedown w/ a harmless (if potentially dangerous) leg extension while on his back.

I know the connection here is mighty weak, but we do need to have some perspective (between sports competing for fans) when DQ-ing.

So it is a judgment call if the runner has cut inside the course? How are you going to make that judgment? If they are just a little bit over the board in the LJ we should do it there also? Remember that the course is measured 20 cm outward of the line, so he has already been given leeway - here he went outside that leeway.

It was stated as "at the start", which implies the first few meters, not some lane violation on the curve proper--as you're talking w/ that "20 cm" factoid, which hardly comes into play as they break for the pole in the 800 m.

Let's await more Info, starting w/ whether they were crowded in two-to-a Lane--and whether, as likely, he was the Inside Dude.

The 800 is run in lanes with almost identical staggers to the 200 so it is one the curve proper (as proper as you can get). Are you implying that they should be treated differently or that a misstep coming out of their stance led to a step on the line (one or more than one?). Also, of course, we do not know much yet but calling it a 'farce' without much info is just plain wrong.

Does this make Johnson the fastest 400-hurdler ever over 800m (even if really just a former hurdler)? What were Harold Schmidt and David Patrick's 800m times?
