He lives and trains in Loughborough now. All the snow, rain, freezing temps, steak and kidney pies, mushy peas and pints of Old Peculier, were bound to take at least a meter off his jumps.

Am I to assume that Jonathan Edwards was drinking Lucozade and eating nothing but the finest fruits and vegetables then?

You could have a point. Mushy peas and black pudding possibly the equivalent to yams?
