In order for any team to run close to 8 min, they will need to be pushed. The big question is who is in the line-up and who will the competition be. They will definitely need two US squads and maybe an international squad.

Obviously they need Russia and perhaps Kenya (with Jelimo, Jepkosgei and perhaps Langat) there.

Since Usain Bolt won't be at the Penn Relays, the biggest non American star there will probably be Kirani James.

Does anyone know why this Athletics West team isn’t credited with the AR? From Peter Larsen’s lists at alltime-athletics.com, an AW team of Sue Addison, Lee Arbogast, Mary Slaney, and Chris Gregorek ran 8:17.09 at Mt. SAC in 1983.

I wonder if the mark was never submitted for ratification or it's something such as one of the women not being full members of AW or some like situation.

Looks like J. Gatlin, R. Bailey, D. Patton expected to be at Penn... all entered in the open 100...

Don't expect that to be the case. There are always changes in that race depending on who does and does not run in the USA/World 4x100.

If these three run on either of the two USA teams in the 4x100 (final line-ups not determined until after Friday practice), I'd be surprised if they ran the 100.

How does a guy like Patrick Domogala from Germany (PB 10.39) get into a race with Gatlin, Bailey and Patton at the Penn Relays? Gotta be lots of faster guys there.

Have the line-ups for the men's 4 X 800 and the DMR been chosen yet?
I'm sure it won't happen, but wouldn't it be great if the following USA teams came to pass (pun intended! :D )?

4 X 800

Jock, Wheating, Symmonds, Solomon.

A sub-7:00 would be possible there!!

DMR (1200, 400, 800, 1600)

Lagat, Wariner, Solomon, Manzano

A sub-9:10 is possible there.
(2:50, 44, 1:44, 3:51=9:09!!)

Agree - just glad to see some big 100 names for the US at Penn and eventually hoping they will be on on the relays. I can't remember the last time I saw the USA's 100 biggies in an individual event at Penn, never paid much attention to that event I guess.

Any American who runs a distance a mile or lower for Nike is likely to be there.

Didn't USA sweep the USA vs. World relay events last year? I hope you're correct Jumbo that the big names will be there for the US (though maybe not Jeter now)...

Not sure what the time window is for WC's, but don't some of these other nations use Penn to get their A qualifier out of the way ( e.g. Grenada ran on their own last year)? Curious to see who's on the Caribbean team besides K. James.

Supposedly the entire US gold medal women's 4x100 team from London will be running at Penn. Hopefully Carmelita will still be running. She stated that she's going to practice as usual today, and that it was just a slight cramp on the weekend, so at least at this time there's no indication of a withdrawal.

As far as the men's 4x4 goes, I've seen recent articles that state that Felix Sanchez and Lalonde Gordon will be two of the other members on the Caribbean All Star 4x4 team with Kirani James. There's a team from Trinidad and Tobago on the start list though, so I don't know if Gordon will still run with James and Sanchez on the All Star team if there's a T&T team... (The article I saw that stated that Gordon would be running on the same team as James was from 2 weeks ago in a TrackAlerts article.)

Felix Sanchez was announced as entered at Drake.
Not sure what the two schedules are like (Penn and Drake), but maybe he's intending to run both!!
It could be done if his events at each are on different days!

Considering her recent cramp/injury at Mt. SAC, I highly doubt that Jeter will be there. But that's great to hear that SAF will be.

Here's the USATF press release from 4/18, which is where I read about Sanchez running at Penn:

http://www.usatf.org/News/Outdoor-USATF ... ith-U.aspx

I guess they could be wrong though, or else he could be traveling from Iowa. According to the Drake website, Lalonde Gordon is also entered at Drake in the 400. The men's 400h and 400 at Drake are scheduled for Friday night at 6:58pm and 7:45pm respectively, so running a 4x4 in Philly the next afternoon at 2:52pm is at least possible...

az2004 - These are great previews... didn't realize Vere's ridiculously good HS G4x4 team would be without their star runner and that a prep can only run at Penn 4 years... good stuff.

kadecia baird verus jamaicans 4X4 hs g

I hope her hammy is okay. She was grabbing it after her 23.84 tuneup at the New York Relays. She ran down the New Rochelle anchor in the 4x1 earlier in the meet (47.81). It was cold out there at Icahn Stadium. We can't lose the best chance in a long time to see a HS girl go 49.x later this spring or early-summer, relay or individual (Demus once ran 50.4 on a relay).

If Medgar Evers is entered in the 4x1, they could potentially break 46.00 (the NYS record is 46.16). I'm pretty sure they're capable of breaking 47.00.

If she's anchoring the 4x4, she'll probably dip under 52.0 if she has to chase Jamaica and Columbia (NJ). For some reason, I think she sandbagged that 54.28 at the Carifta Games, to save everything for Penn.

D'Agostino might have ten seconds to make up on the big guns in the DMR when she's handed the baton.

Here's a link to the twitter conversation that mentions Penn.. I hope she'll be running in Philly, but is there a possibility that she didn't know that her coach had scratched her from Penn yet?

Preview: "The Wolverines ran the season’s fastest time indoors, 10:56.46, to win the NCAA, anchored by Amanda Eccleston, an unheralded senior from Adrian, Mich., whose 1,500 best is a modest 4:22."
It's very, very difficult to be up on everything, so I'm not criticizing Jack Pfeifer when I point out that Eccleston was the D-2 national athlete of the year in 2012 at Hillsdale, where she ran 4:19. It's even harder to be up on that because Mrs. Eccleston was then known as Ms. Putt.

Don't know how fast Dartmouth's other 3 runners are on a DMR.

But if the 1200 girl runs 3:25, the 400 girl a 54, and the 800 woman a 2:05, Abbey would have to run a 4:24 to get the record.
She ran close to 4:30 indoors....so I'm guessing she COULD run a 4:25 or so in a relay....with the Collegiate Record on the line!!
I'd give them a much better chance at going sub-11:00 than getting a 10:48.

Lindsay Walsh, 2:14 and 4:28
Megan Krumpoch, 55.3
Caroline Buck, 2:10

She'll need to break 4:20 for her team to come close to the (world) record.
