Here's an up to date, informative capsule on Aaliyah Brown:

Unfortunately, she'll probably be about 10 - 15 meters behind the leader when she gets the baton in the final.. The two American teams who made the championship final tomorrow have their work cut out for them.

The University of Georgia, Shaunae Miller's school, is competing at the Drake Relays, so I don't think anyone will see Shaunae Miller at Penn. (She isn't listed as running on the Bahamas USA vs the World women's 4x4 team at Penn either, in case anyone thought that might be a possibility.)

As far as age goes, the Penn Relays high school eligibility requirements are:

Specific eligibility requirements, such as that of age limit, shall be those established by the State High School Athletic Association under which they regularly compete. However, in no instance may an athlete exceed the following limits:

Age limit: athlete may not turn 20 before July 1 of 2013.

High School attendance limit: 8 semesters (7th and 8th grade students are ineligible, as are students who may have participated during their 7th or 8th grade years).

I've been aware of the birth dates of various top relay team members at Penn over the years, and there does seem to be a slightly higher percentage of 19 year olds on Jamaican teams (most likely due to differences between the US and Jamaican secondary school systems), but that isn't always the case. At any rate, as long as it's okay with the scholastic athletic association that the athlete normally competes under, a high school athlete at Penn can be almost 19 years and 10 months old..

Very informative, thanks a lot!

Maybe, and they're the defending champs, but don't count out Vere Tech and Holmwood Tech yet, and maybe a few others... Vere Tech won the Jamaican HS Champs in March in an eye popping 3:30.51, but now they're without their 51 second superstud Shericka Jackson, so that'll cost them a few seconds, putting them back in the ballpark with Edwin Allen (3:36.67) and Holmwood Tech (3:37.44).. Holmwood Tech has star Chrisann Gordon, who has a PR of 51.62, and who finished second to Vere's Shericka Jackson in the Jamaican HS Champs 400, in 52.16.

At this point, I'm locking this thread down before it gets too unwieldy. Please start separate threads if there's something meaningful to say from the meet.
