Tonight at the Mobile Meet of Champions the Hoover (Alabama) junior Marlon Humphrey broke Batman Jackson's meet record by over half a second in the 300 hurdles and is approaching the national HSW junior class mark held by Robert Griffin III. The 300 hurdle time was hand-timed it appears but still in the all-time prep top 10. Perhaps he will take down the national record of Jeshua Anderson. Like those 2 of course Humphrey is a football player and is the #1 rated HS football recruit for the 2014 recruiting class. His dad was a former college All-American and NFL Pro Bowl running back at Alabama and with the Broncos and Dolphins in the mid to 80's through the early 90's. So yet again another top track star destined to end up tossing away potential Olympic gold medals especially if he follows dad's footsteps to Alabama to play under Nick Saban where he would be expected to be all football, all the time. Of course Jeshua did decide to toss aside football after 3 years of it in college so we can hope.http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013 ... on_hu.html

It looks as if the 300h was electronically timed; Humphrey happened to get a time of 35.60. The 110H was wind-aided (4.1 mps). It's a wonder he didn't crash into a few hurdles.
Humphrey also won the pentathlon at the New Balance Invitational.

Big, strong football-type kid... looks like he'd make one heckuva decathlete, and only a junior... and his 1000m indoors at 2:49 is very respectable.
At a meet a few weeks ago, he was a quadruple-winner, 100: 10.63, 200: 21.60, 400: 47.41, and 110H: 13.68. Tremendous talent.
