Wow, I just watched the video, and am pretty surprised by how the race played out. I assumed the winner would just take the lead early on and then steadily pull away all the way to the finish. Nope. Looked like that other kid to his right was neck and neck with him, and even started to pull slightly ahead of Williams around the 50 or 60m mark, and then with great suddenness only THEN did Williams go into beastmode, and seemed like he hit a higher gear that nobody else in the field had and suddenly just blew away from the field in the final 30m, generating basically his entire lead over the 2nd place finisher in just the final 30m of the race. Crazy! I wonder what types of times this kid would be running if he learns to run the first 70m of his race more strongly! I'm gonna be keeping an eye on this kid. Looks like some siiiick raw talent right there.

I agree. It is indecent just how good Jamaican HS TnF is; especially when you take into account Jamaica's population. The last place-getters in many of the events would be national champions in most other countries.

Delano Williams just missed Usain Bolt's 200m HS record. He runs 20.27 missing Bolts record of 20.25.

He just ran an amazing race. This is a guy who ran a 44.8 anchor leg in the 4 x 400m race at Gibson Relays in February.

He was expected to anchor their 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m. He Munro team is expected to win both.

He should end up with a total of 4 gold medals by the end of the night.

Delano will be headed to Racers Track Club training with Bolt and Blake starting this June when he graduates.

35,000 screaming track and field fans in the stadium in support of their favorite high school teams. Live national TV coverage all week. Live streaming to a worldwide audience. This is high school track and field at its finest.

It can't get any better than this.

The University of Arkansas head sprint coach was on TVJ morning program this week. This was his umteenth time he has been to "Champs" and he said that there is no other track and field HS championships in the world like "Champs" in Jamaica.

He said he has traveled to dozens of countries over the years and nothing compares to "Champs" in Jamaica. He realizes now that the best of Jamaica's high school athletes no longer leave Jamaica(they stay home and train with Racers, MVP, etc in Kingston) however, his school tries to its best to recruit the best of those who decide they want to go to school overseas.

The commentator says there are dozens of US college scouts in the crowd looking for the next best athlete for their school.

Ato Boldon is in the comentators booth as well. You can hear his "distinct" Trinidadian accent.

Ato's mom is Jamaican.

Colin Jackson is also at the meet.

KC just won a wonderful 4 x 100m in 39.85 seconds. Munro second in 39.92.

Delano Williams ran an incredible anchor leg to come from way behind to place his team second. Incredible leg by him.

Not sure if the height of the hurdles in class one is the same as is on the international level. If so then thats the performance of the championship so far!

Commentator mentioned that the high school hurdles are "slightly less" high than those on the international level.

Records are dropping like flies at this championships. 27 meet records have been broken in the past 5 days. Unbelievable.

Never before in the history of "Champs" have so many records being broken. Just great.

It's 39 inches, same as the US high school and world junior height but 3 inches below the Olympic men's height.

Those three inches are a big deal; it seems like US high school hurdlers lose about a half a second, but Marlow could be more accurate on the differential.

Last year, the live streaming metrics from Sportsmax showed that about 100,000 people world wide logged on from 127 different countries to watch Champs live from Jamaica. No other high school track and field championship in the world comes close to "Champs"
