www.steeplechase.org/uk Second you could ask the advice of coaches who have had athletes who have excelled in the event. (If you email them with questions they will almost always email you back) Third in my experience I have found that there are two important factors in steeple training. 1)lots of hurdle drills and jumps throughout the year(not just in season) 2) Long repeats over barriers or hurdles during the season (800 - 1200 meters) you can do 1/2 with barriers, 1/2 without or any combinations really. The main thing to train for is the fact that despite this is a short race it requires more strength than speed. Therefore the runner should usually train more toward the 5 and 10k throughout the bulk of the season and train toward speed during the peak phase. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
