The almost live splits really made it possible to track what was happening in the longer races (e.g., the 5000s, to see if guys were closing the gap or not, which was particularly of interest to me because the UW guys picked off several runners in the last 1000 (and almost got another).

The live listing on the field events is also nice. And, in particular, when not much else is going on with the Heptathlon you get both the live feed with a knowledgeable announcer and the live results to see the details. Who is that announcer in the morning multis?

She actually got tripped, probably by the foot in front of her, and put her arm forward for balance... didn't look intentional at all. and highly doubt it would have changed much of the outcome of the race.

I don't know. It looked like the Aggie stiff armed the athlete in a bad way and then the girl got tripped by another runner. The girl had a bit of space in Bren the Aggie so the stiff arm looked unnecessary

What really hurt with the Aggie dust up was that Phyllis Francis, the #2 seed, had to slow and then go wide to avoid the crash, thus relegating her to the lesser group of 4 in today's final. Would have been nice for the fans to see her try to dethrone George, however unlikely the prospect.

You obviously haven't watched Texas freshmen Courtney Okolo compete...she is a beast! Especially, at a championship meet. Check her out in the 4x400! However, I'm very impress with Georgia freshmen. She might bust a sub 51 later today.

After seeing the different replays, it seems pretty clear that Rucker of South Carolina cut in on Okolo of Texas in lane one, forcing Okolo to go wide in lane 2 and to subsequently cut in front of Mayungbe of Texas A&M. Mayungbe put the arm out to keep from running up on Okolo who had suddenly moved out into lane 2 right in front of her. Fault seems to lie primarily with Rucker of South Carolina for the initial cut in...

"lesser" group may be an advantage, actually, given the nature of 400 running on a banked 200 track, where the person in 6 is very hard to beat. Not only because they get more elevation drop than the rest, but also because they can "easily" get to the front, and passing on those tracks isn't easy. If Francis is running against slower people, she'll find it easier to get to the front and with it being a time final, has every chance of a high placing.

These are not Heats, they are Sections of the Final. She was the next to last if she is in 4 of the slower heat, which seems right.

Don't know why, but the NCAA''s goal is to have "equal" sections. The fastest time goes in one section, the second fastest in another. They breakdown like this: 1-3-5-7, 2-4-6-8.

Beard and McCrory both ran 50 when they were seniors, Hastings and SRR ran it as a Junior and Sophomore respectively....Both went pro that year...

50.88 makes Shaunae 32nd fastest woman of all time at the distance.... 31st was none other than Tonique Williams-Darling at 50.87 who evidently had ran that in 2004 the same year she won the Olympics. She is officially the fastest 18 year old of all time at this distance for sure.

shaunae millers 50.88 indoor time would put her 13th on the all time world junior OUTDOOR list according to tilastopaja, miller, baird, spencer, george etc. the 400 is in good hands the next 10-15 years.

I'd known of Shaunae's accomplishments for the Bahamas in World Junior and World Youth, but I didn't realize that she was that tall... At 6' or 6'1" and being only 18, and with the potential to gain more strength in the future, her potential, although unknown, seems scary..

I didn't see this result coming at all. I thought for sure Ashley Spencer had it in the bag. I really wish indoor tracks could accomodate all the finalists so the best can go head to head instead of time trialing.
