Everybody's talking about Mary Cain and her phenomenal Millrose race, but after watching some of the videos, and even though I'm probably Cain's biggest booster, I have to go with Alyssia Montano's AR (and 2nd best EVER in the World!!) 600 of 1:23.59.
Can she run faster over 600 outdoors, on a 400 meter track?
I don't know, but her time here must rank as one of the best times by anyone at any distance!!
She opened at 26.3, then hit 53.83 at 400, thus running her final 200 in 29.76.
How many female 400 runners (or 800 runners) could run a sub-30 after having hit 53.83??
Montano's best-ever 400, according to my 2012 Athletics Annual, was a 52.09 in 2010.
That means she ran within 1.74 seconds of her 400 PR, then ran another fast 200!!
Can she get the WORLD 800 record outdoors?
Or especially the INdoor 800 record of 1:55.82??
She could go out in 55 or 55.5 at USATF, hit 600 in 1:25 and change, then run a 30 for her final 200.
She could CERTAINLY get the indoor AR of 1:58.71.
She could go out in 56 or 57, then run a 60 or 61.
Best part of her race was.....she ran solo the last half!!!
Totally impressed!!
