That makes her final 109.1 meters only 18.75!
She finished in 16.67 in her 4:32.78!
More than 2 seconds slower?
Was she dying at the end?
Did she jog across the line?
She jogged the entire way.
Dude.

"My glass is only 99.9995% full! I'm so disssssssapointed!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainI realize there are many other things to talk about from Millrose, but could someone tell me who is Erik Sowinski. Can't keep up with everyone, and this is a name I've never heard. Thanks in advance.
Also, thanks to kuha for the "glass 99.99995% full" statement-- well stated!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainEven before the men's mile, Millrose stands out as the BEST indoor meet this year!!
The move to the Armory was a VERY good idea!! How many records were broken tonight?? "Let me count the.....!" Okay, can the Shakespeare crap, Dude! But there were MANY!!! Whatta night!!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainYvette Lewis - 7.84 second in the world behind Rollins and a PB (previous PB 7.90)
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Don't know much about him but he is listed last year as having run 1:45.90 (2nd at NCAA meet for Iowa as a senior). 11th fastest American runner in 800 last year.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
From the Iowa site http://www.hawkeyesports.com/sports/c-t ... rik00.html Kinda surprising that he's 'only' a 46.8 guy. Must not run it much. I bet he has a low 45r somewhere. Last edited by Marlow on Sat Feb 16, 2013 6:48 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainajee wilson 1:26.45 was 2nd
was that a record too??
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
The announcers said world junior record, but I don't know if they are correct or not.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Source?
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Almost a second faster than her own WJR.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainthanks odelltrclan -- went back to those results. Ran for Iowa, 2nd at NCAA (3rd at NCAA indoor). I guess I wasn't paying much attention -- should have known who he is.
Just looked at Cain's splits: 34.12 (209m) 34.20 34.47 34.01 34.21 34.42 32.40 30.45 Very disciplined race. Considering the setting, the attention, the fact that it's pretty much home turf for her, it's easy to imagine a young & relatively inexperienced athlete getting caught up in that and either running too fast too early, and/or getting overwhelmed when the pack moves past her in the 3rd quarter of the race. Very steady & controlled effort, setting up an excellent last 400 (and excellent result). In addition to being very talented physically, she seems to have very good racing sense.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
According to Peter Larson site this is the second best ever (!) behind Olga Kotlyarova 1:23.44 Probably the performance of the meet
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
all-athletics.com's stats support our announcers, with this listed as WJR for indoor 600: Linsey McDonald GBR 1:27.4 (12 December 1981)
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Right. At least according to the 2011 TAFWA All Time World Indoor List!! She ran that time on February 1, 2004 in Moscow. Montano's time is #2.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
I think she had already run faster than that mark this year. Wasn't sure if she had beaten her earlier run this year but apparently she did. I see now it was 1:27.30.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainAnd Chris O'Hare finishes off maybe the best indoor meet ever (except for championship meets??) with a new Collegiate Indoor Record!!
WOW!!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainIndoor collegiate record in mile as well. All in all a fantastic meet to watch!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainannoucer said men mile was a collegiate record in 4th guy from tulsaa//
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
I'm inclined to agree -- in fact, looking at the all-time 600m lists -- combining indoor and outdoor -- Montano's time makes her #6 performer. I realize 600m isn't raced that much, but the four ahead of her (and Kotlyarova) are significant names in women's middle distance running: Quirot, Mutola, Jelimo, Melinte. Great performance for Montano.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Correct. Chris O'Hare from Great Britain. Anyone have a confirm on Cain's 1500m? I haven't seen anything other than what was mentioned here. Last edited by Dutra5 on Sat Feb 16, 2013 7:22 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainI know it isn't a record, but given the history of great indoor performances by Ireland's milers, it seems worth noting that Ciaran O'Lionaird's 3:52.10 makes him #4 on their all-time indoor list, behind some great names: Coghlan, O'Sullivan, Flynn. It's been 30 years since a miler from Ireland has run this fast indoors.
Also, Lomong & Centrowitz now #3 & #4 on USA all-time indoor mile list (behind Lagat & Rupp, moving ahead of Scott & Maree). And, O'Hare (in addition to the collegiate record) is #2 on GBR all-time indoor mile list (behind Peter Elliott 3:52.02). By the way, how many record performances this evening? I haven't tallied them yet. Last edited by Master Po on Sun Feb 17, 2013 5:34 am, edited 2 times in total.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainthey had a timer at 1500 mark
salazar made sure it was there 2. Cain.........4:26.15 (4:09.50 at 1500)
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Where is this from? First of all...what is the 4:26.15? I don't doubt it was timed....I'm just looking for an official time.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainby tomorrow morning the specifics and times should be available
great meet overall even hasay broke 4:30, good run for her
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainThis makes more sense:
Millrose Games@MillroseGames Mary Cain ran her 1500m in 4:11.72 en route to her fantastic 4:28.25. Both are national indoor HS records. #millrose
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Jordan Hasay ran 4:36
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainthanks for update on the 1500
ajee had run 1:27.30.600 before olde usa record was 1:26.56 at Millrose. both got it montano in a big way ajee is 18??
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
she finished in 16.53.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainhttp://branchsportstech.com/2013_Meets/ ... ts36-1.htm
the 4:09 and 4:11 matching up with the 4:26 and 4:28 seem to be the problem it was coburn under 4:30 not hasay coburn first race since london, that's a good sign
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
What 4:26?
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
If you look back at all the posts, right before the mile started, I posted my predictions for the race, listing what I thought the first 6 placers would be, and their times. I picked Reid to win in 4:25.78, with Cain second in 4:26.15!!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain4:26 is assuming 4:09 my bad error here
too excited and messed up big time abby, doaugostino almost broke 4:30 ok before ukraine where will cain run?? take a break, do some speedwork?? some 800's to sharpen a bit?? get under 60 for the kick to deal with the africans?? alberto, inquiring minds want to know
