Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain1. Am I correct?--it appears O'Lionaird is NOT with Salazar group any longer but w/ Schumaker group (Oregon Elite, NOT project? I think I'm correct because Centro said recently he trains with Rupp and Ulrey. Didn't he make OLY final under AS?
2. One thing I wonder about re Cain. We all know she declined to move to Portland to train daily (now) under Salazar. And there's indications her family has some means. What I wonder is if she is already doing the altitude tent thing as it is my understanding that is one of the very first mandatories under AS. I'm a huge beleiver in the benefits of altitude and if she is not getting this benefit already and still running these times ......

Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainHey!
We get INSTANT videos about Lolo's virginity, Michelle Jenneke's "shimmy-shake", Pistorius's "accident", SFH's "other career"!! But we DON'T get a friggin' 5 minute video of the Millrose Elite Women's Mile......THREE DAYS after it happens??? Come on, ESPN/Armory/Millrose people......GIVE IT UP!!!!

Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
BTW, thanks for that "Hasay" video of the pre-race backstage stuff! Who was the woman in the blue suit following Jordan around? Was she from UO or one of the Millrose/Armory officials?? Also, we got to see a little of Cain there too!! Sprinting down the track, then jogging into place for the intros! Too bad they clipped the video after D'Agostino's intro!! Just watched it again.......the woman wore a BLACK suit jacket!! And so did several other women......so they're probably Armory officials!!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainwednesday 10:25 was when 2 mile was put up

Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
yees, armorty officials, responsible for getting people from warmup cool down area onto the track they were with the hs boys 4X2, i can tell from the pemmridge boys who were 3rd in the event norristown won and ato bolden complemented their form to pro sprinters if you watched the race sunday night, reid and cain interview, they were heading back to the area, and there was the armory offiical a womwn next to them
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainmore on resier from my canadiann frriend
I think it is Patti Sue Plummer she reminded me of. I had a teammate that made the 1976 Olympic team in high jump and she quit to go to med school, so Canadian track had some bright women. Zelinka really needs to find a coach. I know she is happy with her time but she could have run much better with a decent start. Reiser became a Dr. and died in 2008 from a disease where you can't digest food, she was only 52. She ran 4:09 in the semi, was 7th and DNQ for the final. Had to think she'd be a contender for several Olympics but either injuries or school got her
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainAaronK,
What is wrong? The Millrose Games were webcast live on Saturday, including the women's mile. They were aired on Sunday night on national television, including the women's mile. And the women's mile is online on USA Track & Field's account.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainthe espn platformly on works in the usa
so if you were in canada, you could not have watched on espn3 again espn sunday night except those on the border was problematic i have a friend in canada who wanted to see sheila rreid race is waiting for the videotape from flotrack after boston they were put up wednesday hopefully the same happens tommorrw
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainAlthough we couldn't get the ESPN3 coverage on Saturday in Canada, ESPN is widely available online, and we had no problem watching the complete Meet on Sunday. The 2-mile is up on youtube now, I suspect the other events are also, or will be soon.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Caincould you give me the link for youtube 2 mile...
my friend, the candian was the guy providing me, the reiser information

Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainWOW!!!! What a GREAT race!! At one point (1000-1200 mark??), it looked like Cain was in danger of getting boxed in. But she then used "European" tactics, and pretty much did what was necessary, seeming to throw another runner a bit off stride......that runner put her arm on Cain's back, seeming to push her a bit......but she got out of it, and from there on, she just chased Reid!! Wonder what would have happened if Cain had gone with Reid when she took the lead. Might have taken her, but Reid's in GREAT shape, so maybe not! Reid is so classy, with her post-race attitude!! Seems to really LIKE Mary....and vice versa!! Looks like Cain's last 400 (440?) was in the 64's!! So her 440's were about 67, 68, 69, and 64??
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Caini'm looking for the mens 2 mile espn feed, so far i cannot find it
i need to see the race again to see ea tly what happend there reid kick ncaa 2011 at here best, she's tough, have to doucle check 100-1200 i did see cain ankle ND HASEY ancke collide.. neeed to check the other contact think it did not affect rACE THOUGH i had lap 400 in 68 67 69 64 clearly was d'agostino who arm clipped cain and cain ankle then went forward and slight contact with hasay that was at 3:32 mark, stop and start race and you cN SEE IT HAPPEN no harm no foul the go thru 1200 in 3:24, get pst ythre turn before 1300 at 3:32, agostino raises arm and thouches cain shoulder, cain is somewhat boxed, i agree by coburn and reid and infeld and hasay, this is where reid gets the gap on cain, cain follows coburn to get out of box

Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainThis might deserve a separate thread, but here's a bit of trivia about T&FN's covers.
I bring this up because Mary Cain made the March cover....and I firmly believe she deserves to get the cover AGAIN for the April issue!! By the time March went to press, I'm guessing (Haven't gotten my copy yet!! Tomorrow??) they based their choice on Cain's FIRST indoor race, her 9:02 Seattle race. By the time April goes to press (Soon??), Cain will have broken SIX MORE records......not counting the JR records....just the 2-1500's, the 2-one miles, and the legit 3K/2 mile. She being the talk of the indoor season, despite all the other great results, I think she deserves a second straight cover. BTW, there IS a precedent for that. In 1996, Michael Johnson made both the September and October covers....plus the December cover....making it 3 out of 4 in a row!!! She would be the 2nd HS'er to get that honor.....Alan Webb being on the cover twice in 2001....but about 5 months apart!!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainrewatched the contact between d'agostino, cain and hasey again
d'agostino and hasey have cain boxed, front and back reid is accelerating, as the 3 sort themselves out reid and cain get to 1400 at full speed at 3:56 and 3:57 both do the final 200 in 29
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cainahoure might be my next cover, sub 7, and her indoor season has been special too
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
Hazardous guess. The cover is from her second race of the year, the 4:32.78 HSR at the New Balance Games on Jan. 26.
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs Cain
6.99 by ahoure in birming ham beating safp is a hard one to ignore 7.03 7.06 7.07 7.08 7.09 top 6 times add 7.11 7.17 soof the top 24 marks, ahoure has 9
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainI noticed (front page) that Edward Cheserek was chosen Running Times Athlete of the Week, for his taking down of Gerry Lindgren's 1964 indoor records in the 3K and 2 mile.....and for announcing he'll be attending UO!!
Good for him!! However, did RT overlook Mary Cain shattering HER OWN HSR's in the 1500 and mile, or Lagat getting the AR in the indoor two mile, or the two great 600's, or, or , or.......?? Besides, let's compare Cheserek to Lindgren a bit. Cheserek, US via Kenya. Lindgren, US born. Cheserek, age 19 when he broke the records. Lindgren, age 17 when he ran his 3 indoor two mile races!! Lindgren's times were far better than any OUTdoor times run at that time. Verzbicas has an outdoor HSR which is about 10 seconds faster than Cheserek!! While Cheserek is deserving of many plaudits, I don't think he can compare with the HISTORIC Gerry Lindgren!!!
Re: Duel at the Armory: Hasay vs CainApparently we've just heard a pretty good argument for Running Times to have chosen Gerry Lindgren as it's athlete of the week.
