Having just watched the video from the post previous to this, it's very evident that Bolt gave everything he had to run that.

Why is it that every time Bolt runs a sub-par time, he's jogging? As Marlow says: it's February, he's just getting back into the swing of things. He killed himself on that lap and crawled across the line on fumes. Nothing shameful about that.

Becoming a good 400 runner requires not only the necessary talent and physiological makeup, but also a high pain tolerance in order to be able to handle the necessary workouts. Bolt lacks the pain tolerance and heart to become a great 400 runner, and doesn't seem to take much pride in his 400 races. This is exactly the opposite of Tyson Gay who takes tremendous pride in his 400 performances and once said that any elite short sprinter (100/200) should be able to run a decent 400 when they're in shape.
