Bolt has said repeately he has ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in running the 400m. It is just crazy fans, the track and field media that keeps hyping up the possibility.
He has the potential(43+ anchor leg video above), but he does not want to.

Having just watched the video from the post previous to this, it's very evident that Bolt gave everything he had to run that. It proves two things:
A. He hates the 400 B. He's not in very good speed endurance shape.
I posit two further things
A. He doesn't care about B. above B. He'll be in shape (for a 100/200 at least) come Moscow.
He's proven over and over that if and when he decides to get serious, it doesn't take him long to get into superb shape. That said . . . he IS getting older and it won't be quite so easy to do that as time goes by. But . . . never bet against him at Championship time.

Why is it that every time Bolt runs a sub-par time, he's jogging? As Marlow says: it's February, he's just getting back into the swing of things. He killed himself on that lap and crawled across the line on fumes. Nothing shameful about that.
Becoming a good 400 runner requires not only the necessary talent and physiological makeup, but also a high pain tolerance in order to be able to handle the necessary workouts. Bolt lacks the pain tolerance and heart to become a great 400 runner, and doesn't seem to take much pride in his 400 races. This is exactly the opposite of Tyson Gay who takes tremendous pride in his 400 performances and once said that any elite short sprinter (100/200) should be able to run a decent 400 when they're in shape. If only Bolt had Gay's heart, Michael Johnson's WR might be in jeopardy.

Bolt doesn't have heart? That's the most ludicrous statement I have ever heard said about Bolt.
Bolt has the heart of a champion. Two Olympic Games 6 Gold medals.
Bolt does not have to prove anything to anyone that he is the GOAT by running the 400m. He simply does not like the event.
