Very cool to see Ryan progressing nicely on his comeback trail as posted on T&FN's 'Top Headlines' a few weeks ago...http://www.texassports.com/sports/m-track/spec-rel/041713aad.html
This weekend at the Big12 Champs, he had a big PR, going 69-2.5 (21.09m) winning the Shot Put, an easy WC 'A' qualifier, and currently US#3 (only behind Whiting and Hoffa). He had 3 throws over his previous PR of 67-0.5 (20.43). His series: 19.43/20.48/20.28/20.60/21.09/FOUL
With Hoffa having the WC wild-card, that hopefully puts 20 year-old Ryan right in the thick of things come Des Moines.
And for added perspective... I believe since 1987, no one under the age of 21 has thrown further (David Storl just turned 21 when he threw in Daegu 2011).
