I'm as giddy as the next guy about her talent, but there is something off-putting about the continuing internet analyses and soaring expectations of her 'career', when she's still this very young.
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]i saw her do the 4:39 mile at penn last year and 4:11 was her outdoor 1500 peak race
now salazar says 4:25 and he must know what's possible so world youth outdoor 1500 means low 4 range ah what world are we living in, when an american kid has the pediree of an african is saazr really crazy
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]
I'm starting a collection to buy you a new keyboard! It's gotta drive you crazy that the 'Shift' key is broken, most of the punctuation marks don't work, and letters like 'g' and 'l 'only work intermittently!
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]
Let's hope not.

Particularly with the enthusiasm exibited by a non peer.
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]
Or Tim Danielson. Or even poor Debbie Heald who still holds the HS indoor mile record from 1972.
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]
debbie heald is doing very well, although no longer able to run, there was an article on her a couple of months ago. they should fly her in to watch cain probably break her record, the symbolic passing of the torch, just like greg meyer should be present when the next american wins boston, symbolic connections by history is good.
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]
It actually is a pretty sad story. But certainly better than Danielson. On the other hand, Tom Sullivan, who set the high school mile record back in 1961, continued on to do well at Villanova and is in fact at 70 still running some decent miles.
Re: Mary Cain 9:02.10 3k (Oversized track) [overall HSR]
Cain has been compared to Mary Decker Slaney by some. What's ol' Mary (Slaney, that is!) doing now?? Still run? Coach? Being a housewife/mom?? Make speeches?? She's 54 and a half years old now!! Slaney should go to NYC to be present when Cain breaks the records, just as was suggested about Heald!!
