Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueMump can't get on through computer at home or office. I'm fine on both computers.
Knowing nothing about this kind of thing and with him not able to come and get help himself could someone give me a really simple explanation of the best way to solve problem that I can pass on to him. He's using Safari on laptop and Firefox at office.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueI got back from 10+ days without internet and tried to get on and got the message on a firefox browser. Today at work I got in no problem, but we have lots of controls.
Sorry that I did not get to take part in the top-20, was gone except the first day and then was dealing with almost 20 inches of snow with plunging temps afterward as we were preparing to depart for a week and a half. By the way, happy New Years to all.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueIf you mean the Top 20 Olympic Moments it's still open for submissions.
Mump can't get on T&FN so it's open until he can again.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueThe google block seems to be permanently removed now
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueRelatively new (since '09) to computers, so will give you the basic elements of this malware problem from my POV:
1. Was on this site most of the day (off and on) on Friday, Dec 28. No problems. 2. Sometime in late afternoon (pacific time), was unable to access due to Google malware warning. Kept trying every few minutes throughout that night. 3. On Saturday (Dec 29), after many attempts to get on, went to T&FN Facebook site, and left a message there. Wondered why no one else was saying anything there!! 4. Same thing all day Sunday. Left 1 or 2 other messages on T&FN Facebook. 5. Monday, I believe, T&FN FB finally left a message, saying they were working on it with "due diligence". Someone else had asked what was happening. 6. Finally, just a few minutes ago, I gained access again......first time since last week!! I missed you all!!!
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue
I just tried Googling "track and field news" and still got this:
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue
I got on just before NOT through Google, but through the link on T&FN Facebook page!! I clicked on the blue T&FN link at the bottom of the FB logo!! Sent me here.....no more malware warnings!! (I'd clicked on that same FB link numerous times the past 3 days.....always getting the Google malware block!!)
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue
That may be, but the warning when entering the site is gone. I suspect because they stripped out all the advertising.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueWeird!!
Just tried Googling T&FN....and got the same warning...and block!! So apparently....at least for me......the only entry to this site is through the T&FN Facebook page!!! (Edit) Just tried again....to Google......same malware block!! So the ONLY way here seems to be the T&FN FB page!!
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issueI get no more warnings (desktop and laptop). Guru must be right, there are no ads visible.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]There's a note on the front page (in Day's Best Reading) that says they've solved the problem by removing the offending ad.
But as others have observed, there doesn't now appear to be any advertising at all here. That may be good for malware prevention, and some people may prefer not to have ads anywhere on this or any other website. But that's like preferring not to have commercials on tv shows. Somebody's got to pay the bill for this stuff. I would hate to see the financial viability of the site jeopardized by the absence of advertising revenue. Whatever is going on, let's just hope it's temporary.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]In the case of spam/malwarers, I am willing to reconsider my opposition to capital punishment.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
Heh. At the very least, I'd like to be able to sue them.....to make them pay my psychiatric and depression medication bill...... during my T&FN Message Board DETOX stage these past 5 days!!
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]The problem isn't quite gone. On my work laptop(xp/firefox) the problem persists. On my home laptop (Ubuntu/Firefox) it works fine.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
You couldn't click through by 'accepting' the warning (last option on the alert page)?
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
I don't know about aaronk, but until last night, I had to override 2 warnings for every prompt, but at least I could read posts even though it was time consuming.. If I tried to post anything though, clicking through the 2 warnings in order to submit my comment automatically erased the post before it was posted, and brought me back to a blank posting field every time...
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
I appears there is still some residual problem out there, with scattered reports of its still popping up.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]The IT boffins believe that it's just some residual caching of pages at the Google end that should disappear over the course of the next day or so.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]I was getting a warning yesterday on my home computer, so I deleted all of my history and cookies and whatever else there is to delete. The warnings stopped coming up after the mass deletion.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]Well, it was fixed for a couple of days. Now I'm getting the malware warning again, but this time only on Firefox. Last time it was on both Firefox and Chrome. Damn! Let's go back to the old days when we communicated via letters to the editor....uh, never mind.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]It's doing it to me again now.
Am I fine just overiding it?
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
I think so.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]Quavioura, SormChoomma, Alloreviera, noipirSors and Nollatirl.
These rogue posters are a threat to this site. I hope ADMIN can do something to stop them.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
Besides being annoying, they're no threat to the site
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]I got hit on my cyberworld last year from the T&F NEWS Malware.Emails were being sent out to all my people regarding all types of things.I was deeply concerned about someone sending out porn, and even more disgustingly child porn or something.I had to change passwords, etc. And try to warn, and tell my people that I did'nt sell the general spam sales pitches etc that were sent without my permission.Looks like it is finally fixed.Thank God.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]Several years ago, I returned from a trip to discover my email account had been frozen because someone had sent 10,000 pornographic spams using my screen name. It took a while but I was finally able to convince my carrier it warn't me..
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]
Just don't click on their posts, and if you accidentally do, don't click on any links in it and you'll be fine. They can't do anything to you unless you click a link, the message board software doesn't give them the capability to inflict any real harm unless you go to their links.
Re: trackandfieldnews.com | malware issue [fixed]unfortunately, the spambots are getting smarter...
Re: google has given us clean bill of health [name change]go here to see the latest Google report
http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diag ... tput=embed if you're still getting malware notifications, it's because there's cached comment either on your computer or somewhere on Google's many servers.
Re: google has given us clean bill of health [name change]
Thanks to everyone at T&F News for clearing this all up so quickly.
Re: google has given us clean bill of health [name change]Still getting it with Firefox though not IE (I tried clearing the cache).
Re: google has given us clean bill of health [name change]we have one office machine that keeps getting it in Firefox, but not other machines or other browsers. Haven't discovered the cache-removal secret yet.
Re: google has given us clean bill of health [name change]My machine rebooted (via Microsoft) last night and when I clicked on my short-cut for the Home Page and the Forum I got the warning page. I clicked the 'ignore' and went right to the page, then clicked the Home Page link and did not get the warning page. I have not gotten the warning since the firs fix and run Firefox.
Re: google has given us clean bill of health [name change]Last two times I've visited letsrun Norton blocked this beauty...
