2012-2013 Indoor Season begins...

Postby aaronk » Sat Dec 01, 2012 12:59 pm

According to the schedule posted on the "results" section of the front page, there are at least 35 indoor track meets that are scheduled for this weekend.
It seems they're mostly, if not all, collegiate season openers.
Don't know if HS'ers or "open" athletes are allowed.
In fact, does anyone know when the High School indoor season starts??
The Armory in NYC??

Whatever the case, and even if no....or few..."stars" will be competing....this indicates (indoor) TRACK season is upon us!!

Any comments or predictions on what to expect this month??
(Or any results from the above 35+ meets??)

The collegiate indoor season is rigidly prescribed by the NCAA. There's no such rules on the high school side. Anybody can have a meet whenever they want.

Some colleges allow high school athletes in their meets and some do not.

Each state HS association sets the start and end dates for their season. Clubs can do whatever they want, of course, there have been a handful of pole vault meets already this fall, for example.

The Armory has always had the first HS indoor meet the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
