please stop deleting good threads. Let free speech reign.

Main message board: for the discussion of topical track & field items only.

please stop deleting good threads. Let free speech reign.

We are all adults here. If we can't have free speech on relevant topics then what is the point of having a board like this. Where would we discuss it? I can see a moderator monitoring individual posts but to get rid of a whole thread is just plain ridiculous.

Free speech is the ability of the GOVERNMENT to control your speech. Posting to a messageboard is NOT free speech. But, if you are so concerned with free speech than it would seem obvious that deleting a thread is also a form of speech; only this speech is reserved for the moderator.

When a whole thread's premise rests on unsubstantiated drug accusations, then there's nothing left to discuss.

That's a prime tenet under which this Board is set up. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever more shall be.

no, but so as not to risk running afoul of any religious violations, I left off the "world without end, amen" part.

If quoting the Gloria Patri, even in jest, is ever an issue, we really are screwed.

Even I, teetotaller that I am, think this is funny:

Our beer
Which art in barrels.
Hallowed be thy name
I will be drunk
At home as I am in the pub.
Give me today gallon
Forgive me my spillage
As I forgive those who spilleth against me
Lead me not into temptation
Of poncy wine testing
And deliver me from alco-pops
For mine are the hops
The yeast and the barley
For ever and ever
Barmen.

My religious upbringing excluded the Gloria Patri part; it's simply The Doxology.

Reminds me of one the funniest scenes in the always-hilarious The Honeymooners, starring Jackie Gleason and Art Carney and Audrey Meadows.

Ralph and Ed are planning to drink a bottle of wine to celebrate something or other.
Before they get together in the Kramden's apartment, Alice pours out the wine into the sink, then refills the bottle with GRAPE JUICE!!

Ralph and Ed proceed to drink the "wine"
They are both drunk as a skunk......
on GRAPE JUICE!!!

The thread that was deleted was in line with the rules of the board. Judging from the decision to delete my thread I assume any post about Flo Jo is delete worthy unless it is titled " Flo Jo's Long Hair", " Flo Jo's Long Nails", " Flo Jo fashion style".

Can you actually prove that?

That's the point: no one has proven that she used PEDs, therefore any discussion of it is off-limits to this board. If we allowed that discussion, virtually every thread on every break-out athlete would be filled with innuendo. We're sick of that, but that doesn't mean we are avoiding the subject. When a bust occurs, we say 'good riddance'.

No need to. I read every response and each poster took it as an implication of such. It was not even well camouflaged. Let it go  .
