Swiss do it best

Interesting article home-page-linked that posits that the two Swiss DLs are the best T&F meets on the worl dcircuit. I've never been to either, but it certainly seems plausible.

That’s not just based on opinion either, it’s a proven fact [sic !] according to athletics rankings website All-Athletics.com. They use a highly scientific formula which determines the top 12 events from each meeting, based on the best five results in each discipline. Those 72 results in total are assigned points using the IAAF scoring tables, which gives each meeting a ‘results score’.

I have been to Switzerland several times, and my clear impression was the EVERYTHING was better there!

One need look no farther than the value of the Swiss franc at this point for a good idea of why they can suck up so much top talent.

Imagine how well Zürich would have scored this year if the weather hadn't been total crap.

Having just looked, I had no idea that the Franc was worth MORE than a dollar! it used to be worth about 30 US cents (though I am dating myself severely with that statement).

MJD is giggling now because so is the Canuckian Dollar.

I had a draft beer in a hotel in Zermatt in the summer of '11 (33cl worth) and it was 17SF.

He got one of those daily (could have been a week) bans and decided to turn it into a life-time ban. I don't have that much intestinal fortitude or I'd have been outta gh's hair about 9 years ago . . . I miss him. :(

Bunk! This is either inflation or bad math.

Here's what Marlow cited: "They use a highly scientific formula which determines the top 12 events from each meeting, based on the best five results in each discipline. Those 72 results in total are assigned points using the IAAF scoring tables, which gives each meeting a ‘results score’."

12 x 5 = 72 ?? With "highly scientific" math like that . . .

I believe this is the same computation they have done many times in the ATFS annual although I could be wrong. I have always wondered what the scores for things like the Euro Champs, US Champs, Russian Champs, Commonwealth games and NCAA Champs would be on these scales, but I have never tried to bother and do it myself.

Why don't they host more championships?
