People tend to "suggest" a lot of things. This is utter nonsense. Savinova was simply better that day than either Semenya or Jelimo.

Disclosed in an article on this site's headlines on Tuesday. Trainer incompetence is what's come under scrutiny.

As you well know, nothing is ever 'simple'. Everything is actually incredibly complicated, even though our brains try to make it simple. The ANSWER why Savinova finished first that day requires an equation with uncountable variables, chief among which is her mental (psychological) state. Asking where Semenya's head was during the race is a legitimate (but ultimately unknowable) field of inquiry. It's literally what often separates champions from runners-up.

Then why is it being asked ? She was no one's favourite to win but suddenly when she comes 2nd (which is higher than most had her) she must have thrown the race :?

Kirwa, however, accepted that Pamela Jelimo miscalculated and took off earlier than was advised. “We agreed with Pamela and Janeth (Jepkosgei) that because Pamela was the stronger athlete, she would start sprinting with 200m to the finish. She started with 350m to finish. This killed her,” said Kirwa.

Semenya has NOT a favorite?! No one doubted she could win. We questioned whether she would or not BECAUSE of the psychological variables.

She was not THE favourite

These conspiracy theories imply that she was such a dead cert that it somehow a surprise that she came SECOND

It is disrespectful to Savinova and not based on any evidence that we have seen over the past 3 years

True.... I thought Savinova was winning this one for sure and Semenya and Jelimo would make it interesting...

At one point, yes, they did.

Finally, in the women's 800 (3 p.m.), Alysia Montano is ranked No. 2 in the world this year behind defending Olympic champion Pamela Jelimo of Kenya. However, scrutinized South African Caster Semenya is probably the favorite for gold over both of them.

Precisely no form prior to this year? She ran a 1.28,83 600m in Omsk

to put that into some kind of perspective Tamsyn Manadou has run 1.25 600m this year

Er Tamsyn Manou, not Manadou. Unless Laure Manaudou's sister is a runner...
