Does Bob Ramsak know something?

Postby Alan Shank » Tue Jul 31, 2012 11:02 am

I have just been reading the IAAF event previews for the middle distances. In his article about the W 1500, Ramsak does not mention Cakir Alptekin at all, despite the fact that she has the 2nd-fastest time of the season. I have not seen anything about her withdrawing (or being withdrawn by her association). Of course, he occasionally has factual errors in his stuff (he listed Kostetskaya as a Russian entry in the 800, where she did not qualify), but that would be a rather gross oversight.

Bob Martin, in the event preview for the W 5000, lists Svetlana Kireyeva as one of the "top two runners not from those countries" (Kenya and Ethiopia, of course), with a time of 15:08.36. Well, she has that time, but finished only 8th at Cheboksary and is NOT on the Russian team. What do these guys do, just look at the IAAF Top Lists, without regard to who is ENTERED? Olga Golovkina and Yelena Nagovitsyna are the Russian entrants. Golovkina won the Euros.
