Unless it's a la carte.

I find that even more hard to believe.

Seriously, having gone thru the mill with both American Olympics coverage (in the Caribbean in 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000), and then having watched the Olympics in Britain on British TV (2004 and 2008), I can say as someone who's experienced both, that I much prefer the way the Brits do the Olympics....

None of this 'delayed coverage' rubbish....
:?

I'll do you one better. I was in Europe in July 2000, and Eurosport had better, more extensive coverage of the U.S. Olympic Trials than American TV did. :(

I'll do you one worse....

I was in Barbados in 1984, and they took their Olympic feed from Canadian TV - CBC. If there's anything worse than what I watched in Jamaica from a neutral's perspective, that was it.

OK, that's what I was looking for, thank you much Marlow !

So now it seems NBC, when they showed gymnastics, created fake suspense by pretending Russia still had a chance to challenge the U.S. team for gold. Translating that to track, if Bolt were to false start in the semis, they'd probably still go with "and coming up the 100m final, can Tyson Gay challenge Usain Bolt for the gold medal?"

well they "saved" the race until.. they could keep everyone watching to see the commercials.. and after everyone knew the result or had gone to bed....

the networks have NO interest in track and field ...none.. never have never will.. i have "battled" it for over 40 years......

the network should broadcast live or not be allowed to broadcast track!!

I love all the sports.. but i continue to be "flabbergasted", using PG13 language,
when they show hours of horses jumping over a puddle, MM getting sand between her toes, swimmers getting 3 gold medals for basically three of the same events.. and even HOURS of marathon, 10k, 5k, track races (Craig Virgin's 10K at NCAA's is still one of my all time track and field greats)and this time they couldn't even have the decency to show some of the events live that were on a weekend at a decent hour!

Not only are they not airing live .. looks like the field events don't exist! Ever… I think the "scrip" this time is to show four throws, four jumps, four vaults!!! But none during the event!

USATF should/must have their own Cable change anyone that wants to "air" or broadcast themselves. That would be the most Important money spent for future development, even for the "life" of the sport.

In today's technology this would be a cinch. Even a "caveman" could do it!
