Horn with another big PR in the JT, while Detmer fell short of my expectations. So HOrn is at 7229 and Detmer 7083. As stated above, Detmer is a good 1500m runner who, with third place on the line and in cool conditions, is likely to run 4:13/14, and maybe faster. Horn's PR is 4:29. Horn needs to stay within about 21/22s of Detmer to beat him. If Detmer can get near his 4:04 PR, he may have a chance.
4:05.0 yields 8000 points for Detmer. 4:26.0 yields 8000 points for Horn.
And just for fun: 3:57.1 yields 8201 and the A standard (and a decathlon 1500WR) for Horn.

Lowest 3rd-place score since 1984 (from Ken Nakamura's stats) is Kip Janvrin's 8057-pts in 2000.

There are world class shot putters (2-3) that use a similar technique.
Hardee does not have to complete this deca to go to London... correct?
There is more technically wrong han that with Eaton's SP. Big pause before the release many times. He just does not get full use of his leg strength either.
I am sure there is a good reason he sticks with it. Just think there is way more there-more room for improvement than in the PV IMHO.

What have other athletes, who are similar in size to Eaton, done with the shot? Is another meter or so feasible without adding bulk? I know he has improved significantly over the past couple years with all of his throws.
As amazing as we have seen Eaton perform in this meet, two world Deca bests, etc., and a very fast 1,500 still needed, it shows how good Sebrle's record is! Eaton's gonna do it! Go Ashton!
This is the first time eaton will beat hardee in the javelin for good reason. I think Ashton should try once more to see if he can hit a 60 n throw so he will only need 420

Sounds like there's a lightning scare. I wouldn't want to be standing in an open field with a long metal spear in my hand when there's lightning nearby. If Eaton were to get struck then you'd have to think Sebrle and Dan have a special place in God's heart.
