The kid consistently runs sub-46... also, anyone know what happened to prep Najee Glass?, who edged Aldrich indoor earlier this year.

Sanders has the 2nd fastest time in prelims, Washington the 8th fastest. Probably more difficult to make the team in the 200 than in the 100 though, with more collegians in the event.

Yes, the extra year does make a difference... but I really like the preps having this rare chance for international experience and it's impact on them... e.g. Aldrich Bailey seemed to have worn his Youth USA uniform every chance he had, indoors and outdoors this year.

Looks like Ashe's decision to stay home and train with Mike Judge instead of following a traditional route of going to college immediately after high school was wise.

Funny thing on Shelbi Vaughn she actually signed a LOI and received as scholarship to play volleyball at A&M. lol. Their track coach must be thrilled to get this girl practically 'free'

I hope she focuses on Discus cuz she could be something very special in her career. A&M probably has a good throw coach... but just wondering what are some of the best throwing colleges? SIU is one i know and maybe another Illinois school that slips my mind.

Mary Cain 4:14.74 Meet record; #2 all-time HS, behind Hasay's 4:14.50 (2008). Also, on the all-time 1500/1600/mile combined list (as miles), it = 4:35.11, which is #2 (behind Hasay).

Hannah Meier's 4:18.44 also noteworthy.

Cayla Hatton is having a good meet:
16:24.87 for 2nd in yesterday's 5km; 3rd today in 4:19.31.

Yes. Najee Glass strained a hamstring running the 4x1 at the Penn Relays in April, took a few weeks off, and then reinjured the same hamstring a few weeks ago in the 200m trials at the northern NJ sectionals, after successfully winning the 400 at sectionals the night before.

A great team, and a great meet. Great to see Youth roomates Aldrich Bailey and Arman Hall go 1-2 in the 400, 45.37 and 45.77 respectively, great times. w/ Okezie and LSU's Downing, I wouldn't be surprised if they threaten that 3:01.09 4 x 4 relay set in Grosetto (Johnson, Merritt, Craig, Clement), w/ 2 preps in the mix. Tyreek Hill looks like the real deal also.

Kendell Williams (just a HS junior) falls just a tad short of the HS record in the Heptathlon, scoring 5,481 (PR), finishing 2nd... very impressive.

Cain's 4:14.74 is a Soph class record!!
(Hasay ran her time as am 11th grader!!)

Kendell Williams AGAIN PR's in 2012!!
Her 5481 Hept is a Jr Class (11th grade) record!!
With better SP and JT and 800, she could get 6000 next year!!

What happened to Cami Chapus??
She ran about 20 seconds off her PR!!

With 4 HS girls under 4:20 this year, this must be BY FAR the best year for HS girls mid-distance running EVER!!

Her JT was better--94 feet. Also, I don't think she has run a serious 800 yet, and when that happens, we could see 6000 (next year).

Yes and no, when she was in 11th grade, Hasay was really a 10th-grader age wise (she started college at 17). [Since Cain is already 16, they were the same age (year) Cain about 6 months younger than Hasay was.]

Cain's victory in the 1500 is interesting to watch -- it has the standard "form" of "aggressive frontrunner gets caught by about 800m" but the usual outcome -- that person going backwards through the pack -- of course didn't happen. Really interesting to watch Cain run away from everyone (again) in the last lap. First time I've ever seen her run -- impressive.

Someone asked earlier what happened to Chapus -- I don't know, but having seen the results before the video, I assumed she was never a factor in the race, so I was intrigued to see that she was in the top 3, w Cain & Hatton (I think) at the bell, but in the last 300-400m it just looked like someone pulled the plug.

Also watched the 800, to see Ajee Wilson & Dani Aragon. In the "HS state meet heroics" thread, kuha noted of Aragon, "She's got great biomechanics--one of the most elegantly fluid runners I've ever seen." Having seen her for the first time in this race, I second kuha's observation. She ran well back in the first 400, and then came on very strong in the last ~300, almost caught Wilson. Also very impressive. (Of course, Wilson is, too, but I've seen her run before so she was already familiar to me.) I know that Aragon doesn't have the fast times on her prep resume as do some others, but she looks like she has a great amount of potential.
