Interviewed on TVJ news tonight, Veronica said that she will be running both the 100/200m and expects to run both in London if she qualifies.
Wow! Well i wish her the best of luck but i really wish she would only run the 200m and 4x100m but its her choice not mine.... Watch allyson only run the 200m and win with a new pb.
None of the seeded runners are included in th emorning heats - which act to qualify athletes for the quarter-finals, which are scheduled for 7.15pm [Kingston time]
As noted on the heat sheets, foreigners are allowed to run at our national trials. They do it basically to obtain qualifying times needed for the Olympics.
Many years ago, the US trials used to allow this as well. I don't believe they do this anymore though.

I assume that Davian Clarke is not the one who used to be a quartermiler....
Last I saw heats were winning with10.48/10.58 with a -4.7 headwind.. No live results other than @trackalerts twitter.. What a poorly run trials by jaaa or whatever their name is.

At least we get to watch everything live unlike the US trials.

Shivan,
Do you plan to subscribe to the coverage? The excitement begins tonight with all the major stars.
All the prelimary races were run into a big headwind. All the times were 10.5+
I live in London now, and the prospect of staying up to watch the main programme which starts at 6pm Jamaica time is a daunting one.... I'll probably be asleep by then!

Yes, that would be worth paying if there were events besides the sprints that jamaica could contend for olympic medals for. Unfotunately that is not the case so I do not see the need inspending money to see only a handful of competitive races. Now if jamaica had the marquee races delayed but still free I would not mind. Or even if they had live results like almost every major meet. It seems like they have dropped thw ball on these trials so far even @trackalerts called them out last night for not sending athletes a schedule so many had no idea when to show up for their races.

The meet schedule has been up on the website all week.
Jamaica is the sprint capital of the world and the presence of the world's most famous athlete Usain Bolt is more than enough reason to pay to watch.

Well that my friend is your opinion and one that I do not agree with. That is why the world will watch him as well as the best runners in the world in the olympics for free.
The commentator on the broadcast earlier today said that tickets were already sold out for Friday's session. The stadium has a capacity of around 35,000 seats.
Guess who are they all coming to watch on Friday? No other than Usain Bolt.
The last time Usain Bolt ran in the US was at the Penn Relays in April 2010. There were 55,000+ people at the stadium that Saturday to see him. If USATF wants to increase the popularity of track and field in the US, they should consider getting the services of Bolt to promote the sport here. Pay him what his going rate(like what he gets in Europe) and he will surely pack the stadium at Eugene for the Pre and Adidas meet in NY and get prime TV coverage which will result in huge ratings.
He is the world's most famous athlete with a great personality that would surely "woo" the crowd with his charm.

"Another" poster (yeah, right ) made this claim previously, and I'm saddened to see there's "others" who appear to be living in the same delusional world:

Bolt is the most popular athlete in the world right now.

Agreed. I said as much to a friend while we sat in the stands this morning. The JAAA thinking of Diamond League status for the JII is nothing but a pipe dream. For the races this morning the stadium display board showed the name and time of the winner only, and we were lucky to get that much in a few cases. I had no idea of the wind readings in any of the M100m heats. Such high negative winds are tough luck for some athletes who were in the heats hoping to get qualifying times for London.
Athletes not receiving a schedule with their care package is not excusable. And of course the event magazine was nowhere to be seen when I walked in with my son this morning. Hopefully it will be there this evening.
Good to see Melaine in seemingly good form (easy 54.88), and Spencer as well. Ristanana Tracy hit a hurdle and was lucky to finish fourth in her semifinal.
Danny McFarlane is back with his ever present run-shuffle-shuffle-jump technique for the 400M hurdles (technically he runs the 400M Jump), and qualified for the next round as did Isa Phillips.
Looking forward to this evening, and of course the next three days. As noted by others, the M100m final promises to be of exceptional quality. Just think of it:
100m Olympic gold /100m World Championship gold 100m World Championship gold 100m World Championship silver 100m World Championship bronze (twice)
....will all most likely be in the final, along with a 60M World Indoor silver and possibly a World Junior medalist or two thrown in for good measure.
I'll be back at the Stadium for the 5:30 EST start of the men's Javelin. Yes, we do have field events too, albeit not world class...yet.

Toyracer, thank you for renewing my faith that there are intelligent and unbiased Jamaican fans out there with firm graps on reality. It's unfortunately easy to forget sometimes based on the statements of other posters (self-identified as Jamaican) here.

True, there were over 55,000 at Penn that Saturday on an unusually nice day for April in Philadelphia. But keep in mind that the average recent Saturday attendance without Bolt participating is about 48,000 to 50,000, so it's not like all 55,000 came to see Usain... (2008=49,981, 2009=47,904, 2011=48,531, 2012=49,810, even with Bolt ducking those years and much less attractive weather some years too.. ) I was in attendance in 2010 though, and anyone there would have to admit that there was excitement in the air, although I'm not sure how much of that was due to certain members of the crowd hoping for an even more authoritative demolishing of any USA team, LOL... Bolt's presence and performance made the headlines in the local newspapers too, as I'm sure they do in most places that he competes.

I also want to thank toyracer. Just because "outsiders" criticize your countries trials does not mean you should take offence. Especially if the criticisms are valid. This meet has 35k+ attendance scheduled it should easily have the funds to make live results available as well as a packet given to all athletes with information about their events. I can go to any college meet and get heat sheets/ schedues upon arrival if they are not already emailed to coaches.

I never suggested everything was perfect. However, I least I get to watch the entire Jamaica Olympics Trials live versus what NBC decides it wants to show its viewers.

I do believe they have shown all of the running event finals as well as the field event highlights. The nbc broadcasts are usually the live finals. I have no problem with that. And why pay to watch early rounds if the most important athletes are not in them?
Just got word that in lane 5 of the men's 400h races there was only 9 out of 10 hurdles. Someone in the stands had to point it out to the meet officials. Not sure if they fixed that before the races started, still embarrassing nonetheless.

This is true. It was pointed out and fixed before the particular heat was started. The first hurdle was missing. I will add that the women had run their two heats (semi-finals really) before, so the hurdle was actually deliberately removed prior to the start of the men's races.

Just another day with the JAAA.
I am just glad to hear that the hurdle was in place at the time of the race. A couple years back at a conference meet I was running the 400h and the 6th hurdle was not set to the men's height. I was very frustrated to find out that my race was then a dq over something I had no control of.
