Despite losing to Greco's 57-11.75w (3.4), I think Donato is a real medal threat. He jumped a legal 57-5.75.

Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsPV meet in Jockgrim/Germany today, results here: http://live.cktu.de/index.php?ver=120725DEZJM
Holzdeppe, Otto and Walker win it with 5.81m, Mohr 4th with the same height. Walker, Mohr and Otto all attempted 6.01m. Big disappointment on the womens side, Silke Spiegelburg injured during warmup, no information yet if its anything serious. slightly updated results list from Dublin (25 July), including Centrowitz 1:47.72 PB, I think -- his USATF bio shows a 1:47.77 from 2010 (which is not in the IAAF bio) and what looked to be an enjoyable mile, w 5 @ 3:56 & another 4 @ 3:57.

Jillian better get her act together, because I think it's gonna take a better throw than last year to get back on that podium! Go, Woodland Wolves!! Cheers, Alan Shank Woodland, CA, USA
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsSomething amazing happened today...drumroll please...: A german sprinter ran a very good time.
Julian Reus ran a 10.09 (+0.7) in Weinheim just a few minutes ago. Best time by a german sprinter since 1985. Jared Connaughton CAN ran a 10.14. The meeting is still going on, live results here: http://live.cktu.de/120727DEWHM Man, whats going on there? Sailer 11.05, Cibis 11.17 both with legal wind (+1.4)
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor results
ht 1(1.4) Sailer 11.05 Cibis 11.17 Marscheck 11.67 ht2 (1.5) Pinto 11.31 Gunther 11.41 Kwadwo 11.42 Wagner 11.48 ht3 (1.0) Cremer 11.44 Burckhardt 11.54 Lindenberg 11.89 some on tweeting are suspicious of the times, but the conditions are good and importantly some of them are running for their relay spot. Heat 1 does seem a little fast overall, but heat 2 is representative of this years form, as is heat 3. Men ht 2 (0.7) Reus 10.09 Unger 10.20 Brown 10.21 ht 4 (0.7) Smellie 10.14 Connaughton 10.20 Schenkel 10.22 ht 1 (1.2) Jakubczyk 10.25 ht 3 (0.3) Smith 10.28 Keller 10.29
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsIn the women's 400m, Kohlmann, Feizbakhsh and Klopsch were running for relay spots (Cremer and Lindenberg's spots being safe)
Raysa Sanchez, DOM, won in 52.82, ahead of Kohlmann, 52.97 and Feizbakhsh, 53.04. Klopsch ran only 53.97 so will likey miss out despite an ok-ish leg at the Europeans.
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsGerman 4x1 relay just ran a new NR 38.02s. If they can repeat that in London it might actually get them close to a medal.
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsEffectively an improvement of 1/10th per leg from their performance in Helsinki.
Unger to Kosenkow wasnt quite at full stretch then, but it's still a big gain. Maybe it was simply down to Reus's improved form!
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsWeinheim is arguably the fastest track in Germany, it's no accident that the farewell races before London take place there. I live just a few minutes from there and today it's very hot, hottest day of the year probably and one would think too warm for top results. But the times are legit, I'd say it's just that you have to add a tenth or so because of the track, the same goes for e.g. Discus throwing in Wiesbaden or long jumping in Bad Langensalza.
I'm not sure that it helps the relay being measured against this time in London, it creates unnecessary pressure, but it sure looks good in the record books.
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsWhile I would like to believe this, it's kind of hard not to be suspicious of these times in some way. The amount of personal bests and margins of improvement are staggering. It's totally unexpected too. If a single athlete had done it, ok, but so many at once...
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsThere were only two unexpected improvements, Reus and Cibis. I don't find Sailer's 11.05 surprising, she is in excellent form. Who else improved? None of the other germans did, the canadian Smellie ran a 10.16 in Ottawa two weeks ago, so his 10.14 is not exceptional. The times in the 110H were good but no big improvements.
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor results
The 4x100 relay improved the 30-year old German record by 27 hundredths of a second! Reus nearly broke the 27-year old German record in the 100 on the same day and Sailer ran the fastest time by a German woman since 1995. What's the likelihood of all of that happening at the same time?
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsIt's about as likely as Germany winning three gold medals within one hour...remember that day in 72? Sailer had a PB of 11.10, this year she already had an 11.14, 11.17 and 11.19. Considering that we are one week away from when she is supposed to peak 11.05 sounds plausable to me. The 38.02 seem to be a confirmation of the good 100m times. Germany finally has four runners peaking at the right and same time, we've had people running 10.1x before, but never when it mattered. After many years of disappointments and slow times at the major championships they got it right this year.
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor results
So, what's the theory about "suspicious" times? They're really windy, but the guage malfunctioned? The timing was somehow wrong (how would that happen)? They falsified the results? What do you people think is happening -- in Jamaica (by the US nationalists), in Eugene (by the Jamaica nationalists),in Russia (by everyone) and now in Germany. I'm curious as to what people think is happening. Cheers, Alan Shank Woodland, CA, USA
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsIt has happened before, in 1995 there was a very fast 110H race in Scheesel/Germany, which everyone except the german federation agrees was doubtful. Mike Fenner ran a 13.06, Eric Kaiser a 13.08. Both never ran below 13.20 before or after that race. In 2009 in Ulm Tobias Unger won the 100m with 10.18 with a wind reading of -2.5. Second ran 10.24, third 10.28. Now considering the state of german sprinting that wind reading was obviously false, but it is still in the official records. So false timing and wind readings do happen, even in the oh so "perfect" Germany, but they are rare. I think the reason for the scepticism is, we aren't used to these times, so when they do happen it's like a jamaican throwing the discus over 67 meters...oh wait, they actually got two guys doing just that.
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor resultsI think the scepticism of the German marks is due to the old adage of "Once burned, twice shy!".
So it's probably just non-Germans regurguitating the 80's of Koch's 47.60 and all those throws marks that have never or rarely been approached since. Until PROVEN guilty, these marks are innocent......and accepted!!
Re: Assorted 2012 outdoor results
I assume you're not referring to Koch's 47.60 as a timing issue, since it was set at the World Cup in Canberra, Australia. I understand that there have been some instances of faulty timing and/or wind readings, but surely they are not widespread. Cheers, Alan Shank Woodland, CA, USA
