Sanya intends to try for the 400/200 double at trials it seems. What are her chances?

At this point I definitely give her a top 3 finish if she manages the rounds well.

This will be very interesting. There are potentially 5 women now all serious contenders.
Felix, Duncan, Jeter, SRR, and Madison, the latter 2 proving themselves in NY today.
I still think Felix's 200 competitiveness will give her the win assuming she goes for the 100 not the 400.

With her current form I think she sweeps both at the Trials, where she will have a three day break between the 400 final and first round of 200. Olympic sked a different story of course.

Sanya's in that mid season peak form (for Trials I assume) so I doubt there is much she can't do.

Curious, do any of you think its a possibility that Felix does not make the team?

100 - possible, but unlikely.

200 - I say just plain no.

400 - if she goes out for the 400, she WILL make the team.

I think her focus has strayed somewhat this season from the 400, Note no 400 individual race yet, in addition to that the event is far more competitive.. with Mccorory edging closer to 49. and i believe Debbie dunn, beard and trotter are knocking.. Trotter to me is very dangerous .. she is capable of dropping a whole second come Trials..

Felix should just forget about the double and just focus on the 200m if she really wants that individual gold medal.

I do think they are edging to 49... but they won't get to 49... I think the only one getting to 49 at trials is SRR at most. I also do think that Felix would, could and will go 50.1x-50.0x which should be enough to make the team.

If she were to run all 3 events (100,200 & 400m) she can easily make it in the 200 & 400m. She may barely make it in the 100m. But, personally, i believe she should just concentrate on the 200m and the two relays for London. If she does that, she may return with more than 1 gold from London.

After her 100 win in Doha, I thought she would (and should) aim for for the 100/200 double at the Trials and Games. After her race in New York, I'd be inclined to agree with Jamaica50. But of course, we don't know whether she was serious about NY or what other circumstances might have led to this apparent reversal of 100 form in just a few weeks.

I guess we'll see in Eugene,

I have to say I generally agree with the sentiments here. Its a credit to the competition that any talk of doubling beyond the trials is a bit risque' at best.

Taken literally, this is the most nonsensical thing in this whole thread. Obviously only one person has any chance of being in this position, the other 100,000 [or 100+ if you are talking about the pros] who run this event are assuredly NOT one second faster.

Exactly, 26.

If you go back and look that was pretty much my response to mump as well.

Nonsense!

One day everyone will see that every word I've been saying about Sanya for years now is true.

So no double then.... I think it'd be much better for her if she doesn't... especially if VCB does.

Like you mentioned in the 100m topic, she seemed like she really wanted to double. Almost on the verge of tears in the mix zone.

It's good to see some emotion from her, while it might be a hard to face, it shows she cares and really wanted it, her public persona is a little bland. Depending on the outcome of the 200m, she might well still run the double.

Everyone's been giving Lolo a hard time for the attention she's been getting, but there's a very real chance that Felix could be the media darling that's left off the team pending the outcome of the 100 tiebreak. Then would she take as much grief as Lolo for getting undeserved hype?

Anybody seen Gleason?

Remember Gleason's threads on the topic of Felix doubling?

After Daegu last year and with Felix's choice this year I wonder if he's finally coming around to my way of thinking?

The only way I see Felix not making the 200m team is if she pulled a muscle, false-started or ran outside of her lane.

Don't cry NSO let me comfort you 8-) .

Gleason didn't know what he was talking about but it has nothing to do with AF's talent. She's clearly a rare athlete so I never meant to slight her or be disrespectful.

But if I've saddened you, I can't until we make up  .
